Why would that be?
Implementing a phono stage in the new integrated amps, but no more Airplugs for the superline?
Are you sure? I think they are a special order item. I got a 100R Airplug about 6 months ago. It did take a while though… (thank you Jas!)
For the uninitiated what is an Airplug please ? Just acquired a Superline/SCDR combo , using it with modified Gyrodec and Lyra Delos. Superline acame with 500DR installed but about to start experimenting .

It’s the type of plug which is used on the Hi-Line/SuperLumina I/C’s, which acts to decouple the cable. Beyond this there’s also the Z-foil capacitor option.
Your dealer (assuming you are the UK?) should be able to inform of the availability of these options.
Further background on the AirPlug can be found here:
I think it was discovered that ‘disconnecting’ the capacitor from the socket yields benefits, hence why the AirPlug option came to the fore post the Superline being launched.
I think these are still available by special order from Naim - again, something to be raised via your dealer (once you have settled on the best loading). I’m not sure what the arrangements are for the Z-foil option.
Richard,
Maybe this is only for US market? I was looking to get a new one made with a different value and I was told that Naim no longer supply a blank Airplug and that I need to purchase a Hi-Line to harvest those plugs for Z-foil version like it used to be. ( not acceptable to me )
I reckon Naim never offered a Z-foil Airplug right?
Can you confirm if Naim still offer a standard Airplug in the US?
Thanks.
I have a Z foil plug from Naim. I’d ordered a 120R for my proteus but after further listening decided this was too high so asked at the dealership if the resistors could be changed for 100R. The dealer opened it up to find it didn’t have Z foil in it but didn’t comment and sent it off for new resistors. We checked when it came back and now there were Z foils in place.
Kuma, no I can’t confirm with regard to the USA. It was 6 months ago, so maybe things have changed since? Probably worth making an enquiry directly to the factory.
I asked Mark at the factory and he says that Airplugs are still available to order.
Thank you for this information! Good to know!
Thanks Richard. I assume that’s for in the US, too correct?
P.S. Which cartridge for 120R loading value? That’s awfully low.
Kuma, I assume that if they’re available from the factory then they’re available for all distributors to order as well.
I ordered a 100R for use with a Rega Apheta 2.
What value were you using before?
I was using 100R, but it was the standard plug that came with the Superline.
