Don’t worry. You can fix anything with an expensive power cord in the home.

Panic over. Found my mains tester from the back of the garage. UPS voltage display says 249. Tester plugged into the UPS socket says 234V so the conclusion is the UPS meter is garbage. Oh well I’ll have to find something else to amuse me now 
That’s a shame, I was anticipating weeks of readings and debating about voltages!
I tend to buy vinyl if I find my hands idle and lacking a tinkering outlet.
