Martin Logan ESL X (and so on)

Thanks for this…

What ML speakers should I consider buying? Which are best to avoid these issues?

I too liked the ML speakers I have heard. I ended up with Quad 998. Quads have a similar sound signature but with the base is well integrated. Massively detailed and ruthlessly reveling of the source.

Now the bad. They are big. They need space around them.

The panels need a service every 5 to 7 years and this is expensive and or will require lots of your time dismantling and reassembling.

If your funds will stretch, I would strongly recommend the Summit X. Both the Summit and the SummitX come up for sale on an occasional basis and they are fabulous. The integration of the bass units is not an issue at all.
I tried to convince myself that Quads are a good option, but they are big and more difficult to place. The Martin Logans have stronger technology and play significantly louder without any strain.
