I have a Melco C100 Ethernet cable to connect my Melco N1ZS/2EX music library to my CD555 streamer.
Only one end of the Ethernet cable is grounded (the end with the Melco logo). Which end goes where? Anyone with an opinion?
My logic is that both Melco and Streamer are both grounded through their 3 pin power plug and so it doesn’t really matter, but I’d be interested in other opinions.
Suggest you have the grounded end away from your streamer end… though unless you are in a very electrically noisy environment, it probably won’t make much difference.
Of course you can decide which end if any ‘sounds’ best
Thanks Simon.
I use those and the melco label is at the switch end so rfi does not enter the streamer
Brilliant, so that backs up Simons take on it too. Thanks.

I concur, tried it both ways and definitely preferred it with the Melco label at the switch end i.e ground noise unable to pass to streamer as that end is floated.
This even applied to the NAS, which technically is sending data back the other way towards the switch. Didn’t matter, that worked better with Melco label at the switch end as well.
