Metadata

Hi,
I’ve got today the new “Bruce Springsteen - Lost Albums” and tried to add them to my Core Server. But: no Metadata available … How long does it take, until Metadata is available for new albums?

Btw: the Album is great!!

It’s impossible to say. It could be there today or it may never appear. But no metadata available on a newly released album is commonplace unfortunately.

The Core will look for it regularly unless you edit it yourself, in which case it won’t and you will have to check back from time to time.

No metadata on the latest Cure remix album too. Coincidence or an issue?

I ripped five main stream classical releases a week ago. None of them had metadata. It’s just how it is with Rovi’s metadata service currently.

The online databases rely on somebody bothering to upload metadata for any album before it becomes available for download. It’s quite common for this to take a bit of time. With streaming being the norm for the vast majority of listeners I can’t imagine it’s a huge priority to upload the metadata.

That’s true for FreedB, but Rovi is uploaded by the publisher of the recording I believe? And we are talking about CDs not streams.

Hi,
once again: the album is already listed in DISCOGS. Is there any chance to get the DISCOGS data down to Naim? I’m even struggeling with getting simple CD Covers from Discogs to Naim
Or is there a way to add DISCOGS to the Metadate search options in the Naim App?

Thks for any hints!

Select Core in the app, then click on an album, then edit metadata, then click change cover - Discogs is there as one of a choice of three after Google and Bing or fourth choice (your own) photo library!
This for cover edits, not track info. You copy the image then revert to Naim app and it asks to allow paste, at least in the iOS app - you don’t specify which app you are using!

Hi, I’ve got the Update for the Core today. And the “Lost Albums” where recognized … no idea if the sw update or whatever …

It wasn’t the software update. The Core keeps checking back if it hasn’t found any metadata, so obviously that album had finally been added, coincidentally.

I tried a manual meta data request after the update and it still didn’t find anything. I had to delete the album and reload. All good now.

That’s interesting! It’s not supposed to work that way.
