Milan Kundera RIP

I was sad to read this today; Kundera opened my eyes to another world when I lived first in Czechoslovakia, then Slovakia and finally Czech in the 90’s. Other Czech writers wrote about those difficult times before the Velvet Revolution but Kundera inspired.

He wrote a masterpiece of modern literature.

Even though he reached an impressive age, this is still sad news. I found his writing so different to other voices of the time and that had such an impression on me, moreso than probably anyone since.

The Unbearable Lightness of Being is such a wonderful phrase/concept/state.
