Modern movies seem to be unaware of both CDs & streaming… whenever a character is listening to music it’s almost always ‘drop the needle’ time. There are even some rare scenes where the character turns the disc to play side B
Most, if not all of mine are side 1 or side 2. don’t remember a side B.
Didn’t “Inspector Morse” graduate from a Rega to a CD player in the later series?
Wasn’t it a Roksan Xerxes? I remember one in a TV show and thought it was Morse.
Come to think of it, you may well be right.
grrrrrr I‘m going to have to run through the whole box set now
‘Baby Driver’ had a fruit box on the passenger seat.
Arm & cartridge?
Amazon TV’s Bosch series was superb in this regard. Jazz LPs ** on his system overlooking LA.
**that’s “vinyls” for our younger members
Introduced me to Art Pepper!
Edit: so tonight’s playlist will be AP’s “Today”, which will make a change from the usual Black Sabbath !
Morse never owned a CD player.
It was, yes.
A good chap!
From another forum, his early system is described as:
Roksan Xerxes turntable with RB300 arm and a Naim Nait,
I had Xerxes/RB300/K9 - Nait - Epos ES14s, that’s why his record player stuck in my mind.
I had Epos ES14s, they now reside in my son’s house.
Sadly mine went after a major power hit to my house which took out a 135, when I got that back I found it had taken out the woofer of its speaker. And as the early cones had to be changed in later models for worker H&S reasons I couldn’t get a matching replacement. So sadly they went to the big speaker stands in the sky after a bit over 20 years of playing music, if not they’d probably still be in my main system.
Here was my post in 2023
Watching TV in 2023 but going back to 1987 Series 1 - Episode 2
Whilst episode 1 was based on the turntable manufacturer in Episode 2 we see Inspector Morse at home and his system.
Not sure about the speaker placement.
Watching on ITVX “iplayer”
Yet, in the only Bosch novel I’ve read he put a CD in the player…
In the Nicole Kidman movie ‘Holland’ she is listening to an Annie Lennox track on what looks like a ghetto Blaster
Occasionally, movie characters are seen using ear pods, but usually wired, never Bluetoothed. Radios normally feature in car scenes, almost invariably playing country & western or some ranting Christian radio pastor (?).
A. Read the rest.
B. We’re discussing the TV series, not the books.
A. I’d read it.
B. I was just adding a note, not correcting.
