That’s some number plate
I use to own a Yamaha 250cc two stroke engine back in the 70’s. The acceleration was vicious and traffic for me simply did not exist in London. However I disliked riding in the rain and gave up the bike after having an accident.
Aforementioned Honda F2 with DIY Holset turbocharger kit, Douglas IOM 1980. Boost pressure regulated to max 15psi by exhaust wastegate. Engine torque basically doubled as soon as the gauge hit 15psi. This made for a kind of wave of power that made 3rd gear 80MPH wheelies effortless. Maximum power could only be used for about 10 seconds at a time, otherwise piston meltdown would ( and did) happen. Queens Uni engineering dept found out about it and wanted to develop it more, but I’d had enough of rebuilding that engine by then
Hope you updated the brakes and suspension to cope with that beast
No point in upgrading the brakes - the front wheel was mostly airborne
Seriously, the brakes were pretty good (for the time), but the thing handled like a shopping trolley and a barge could have turned quicker. That’s why I went mad and turbo’d it - straight line thrills was all it was good for.
I had an F1, no turbo and the front brake was already a joke. The rear was really good though with a twin piston calliper to rival a brembo (except brembo pistons don’t go rusty).
High Chaparral,. Swedish Wild West
This picture below is on a huge Trike.
The picture was taken during a Bike-meeting at the Swedish Wild West town High Chaparral.
• The builder is once again Kent.
Below pictured with his girlfriend,.when he has just won “People’s Choice” with another of his bikes.

Each to their own.
Choppers are not for me
I’m at a loss to see any connection between this (or the Gold Wings) and the title of the thread! As CBR600 says, each to their own, but most motorcyclists I think would struggle to understand the appeal of these…machines is probably the kindest word.
That’s some change in spec.
They were about 30 years apart. My “spec” had changed somewhat as well.
Wow,.a new example of BIGOTRY ,.the Gold Wing is,after Harley’s the most myth-wrapped motorcycle.
It has been manufactured since 1975.
In Europe alone,.24 countries are part of the…
“Gold Wing European Federation”.
In the USA you have GWRRA.
“Gold Wing Road Riders Association”
This non-profit organisation helps to organise one International Gold Wing-Meeting in each member-country every year.
And at every Gold Wing-meeting,.an average of 19 countries are represented.
There are usually between 1000-1500 Gold Wings on each meeting,.in each country.
And on most Gold Wings,.so sit two people,so count yourself, and you will see how big this is.
And I myself drive between 22000-28000 km each season…
So I Wonder Who Is More Motorcyclist…
You or Me…??
And This Is Important…
I’ve NEVER made a difference between different motorcyclists,.or their motorcycles.
It doesn’t matter if it’s…
• Sports-bikes.
• Choppers.
• Trike’s.
• Off-road or…
• Touring.
It makes me sad to read about your attitude.
To me you do not seem like a Real motorcyclist,.with such an opinion.
A female friend of mine,.who’s been driving a Gold Wing all her life, she was hit by a car and was paralyzed in one leg.
She was able to keep on riding a motorcycle because she bought a Trike…see the picture below.
• She would be both surprised and saddened,.to read about your opinion of other motorcyclists and motorcycles.
Gold Wings are the biggest and most expensive motorcycles,.and there are lots of “bling” you can buy to it.
But I’ve never come across a Gold Wing-driver,.with the attitude that you have to other motorcycles or motorcyclist.
• And they’re incredibly easy to drive .
But with your attitude towards other motorcycles and motorcyclists,.we will probably never share a beer together.
But it’s okay,.albeit I’m surprised.
/Peder🤔
There are many sub groups of motorcyclists, I’m the originator of this thread and ride an Aprilia Tuono 1000 and a Honda SH300 Scooter, I get treated completely different by fellow “motorcyclists” depending on which one I ride.
When I’m on the scooter I get bullied, never get the bikers “nod” and get disrespected, there is no all for one bikers code.
A lot of bikers are snobs and look down on others who aren’t in their sub faction group.
Nick
I’m sorry to hear about this @Dalmatian,.I greet Always at everyone, even if they drive a scooter.
Since I’m driving a Gold Wing fulldresser,.I notice that some other motorcyclists can be a little shy to come and talk when I have parked.
But in that case I go to them instead and start talking,.I think many of us started with a small scooter.
But those who behave as you describe,.they are no “real” motorcyclists.
They’ve only bought their bike as a status item.
/Peder🙂
Everyone is different and same with bikes.
It’s important to appreciate all types at face value. I personally don’t like choppers, but can still appreciate the style and the skill in their preparation.
Good will to all riders.
Yeah, but a lot of bikers aren’t. As long as they’ve got two wheels and you hopefully keep the shiny side up…
Goldwings are what they are. Not my cup of tea. My issue with them is that they do everything worse than other motorcycles, except perhaps for armchair comfort. And if that’s what you want, then why not a sports-car?
My first bike was a Honda CB450, then a Triumph Bonneville and the last one a Harley Davidson Electra Glide Classic which I used to ride around the four corners of the USA.
I enjoyed all of them and met some nice people. If I had to get another bike, it would be a small lightweight and manoeuvrable 650cc with tail, saddle and tank bags so I could get lost on back country roads all summer long with all my stuff…
Doesn’t cost a penny to dream!
And it’s a Touring-bike,.just like the Gold Wing,a perfect bike for this purpose.
• Harley Davidson Electra Glide Classic .
All these bikes serve a special purpose,.you have…
• Sports-bikes.
• Choppers.
• Trike’s.
• Off-road.
• Touring etc…
And I wouldn’t want to sit on a bike like this,.as Winkyincanada has, when I drove 2580 km from Boden to Heidelberg,.with just breaks to eat and refuel.see below.
Then the body would be destroyed for at least a week .
But on a Touring-bike (Gold Wing) there is no problem,.they are made to drive fast and far. Different bikes, different uses.
So I think some people here need to lift their eyes a little bit,.and not have so narrow field of view.
And you Can drive hard with a Gold Wing,.it have probably not Winkyincanada experience of.
But that’s not their purpose,.as it’s a Touring-bike.
In the same way as,.you not driving Off-road with a Sport-bike.
/Peder🙂
