Hello @Stevesky
Sorry to bother you again
Last day I wanted to read some MP3 files and they are unreadable from my ND5XS in 4.9.
I know I have read them in the past while in 4.7 and 4.8 but impossible in 4.9.
It’s not a disk issue because I own 2 servers and same mp3 are read, same mp3 are not read.
I tried direct from ND5-XS menu and from the Android App (which is up-to-date).
Same result.
In the app, if MP3 is readable, choosing it makes the icon “in play” appears and flow comes.
If MP3 not readable, choosing it make no icon appear (neither stop, neither reading).
Strange because some MP3 are OK, some others are KO.
All were OK until 4.8 …
Is there an issue with this 4.9 ?
My MP3, as far as I know and understand, are “standard”, nothing special inside …
What do you think about this ?
Did you receive such messages from other listeners ?
Thanks in advance for your helping hand.
Yours,
Bertrand
Hi @Bertrand
Can you raise a ticket with our helpdesk and share one of the files that wont play.
We’ll investigate and go from there. Typically this is to do with non standard tags inside mp3 files, but in practice coukd be many things.
Regards
Steve
Hello @Stevesky ,

Thanks Steve for proposal.
I will raise a ticket to HelpDesk for sure.

Hello @NogBadTheBad .
I really don’t know …
All I know is they were readable in 4.8 version and not in 4.9 …
Bertrand
Download a file that doesn’t play and look at its properties.
What are you using to stream the file from?
Asset on a NAS?
@Stevesky
Seems in HelpDesk I am not able to enclose an MP3, only PDF, JPEG …
Or may be am I not in the correct place in helpdesk ?
Thanks,
Bertrand
@NogBadTheBad
From an UpNp.
But do remember all was fine until 4.8 version.
Troubles in some MP3 only occured as of 4.9 …

It’s fine, just use the email address or phone number provided in the link.
Big thanks @Richard.Dane .
I just sent a mail with one non readable MP3.
I hope not too big.
Let me know if any issue on it.
Thanks a lots for your helping hand, I really appreciate.

I’m not part of the support team so won’t know. You should get back a confirmation and ticket number - check any junk folders in your email if not.
I had the same problem and it turned out some of the mp3 files were joint stereo, worked fine pre the update and on my 222 but only worked on the 222 after if I remember correctly.
The fix for me was to get asset to encode the mp3 files on the fly on the options page so they’d also play on my mu-so v1.
Done and I have received a ticket number 275799 …
Thanks to all and wait for the future

I had the same problem with NAC-N-272 and Qute2, playing MP3 (stereo and joint stereo) and some FLAC files. I rolled back to version 4.8 on both devices and am playing Foobar iRadio via the iPhone/Bluetooth connection on NAC and UPnP on Qute2. I wrote to NAIM several times since March without getting any reply.
What was your ticket number? I’ll follow it up for you.
Never received any answer to my email sent on February 10, 26 and March 5. Below is a sample of just two albums that did not play with version 4.9.
When I try to play the same files loaded on a pendrive from the USB port, the music starts after a short hesitation.
No problem with Moondance and Tupelo Honey albums, even though they are in Joint Stereo Mode.
Dear @Richard.Dane and @Quicksilver61x
May be am I luckier than @Quicksilver61x but I received an answer from Naim HelpDesk.
Jordan asked me questions about the way I listen to my MP3.
I confirmed I used randomly a media player Synology DS214+ which has been updated on OS during August. I suspected this was the source of the issue.
But I also listen to through a very old WesternDigital media player which has not been updated for years.
One being back-up of the other.
I told Jordan same MP3 are readable on both system and same others MP3 are not readable.
So I guess it’s not an OS issue on media servers but for sure a consequence of upgrading to 4.9.
I did not try through direct USB so far.
I am pretty sure it comes from 4.9.
My ticket number is 275799 if it may helps.
I am waiting for new answser.
For sure I let you know the result …
Thanks again,
Bertrand
I am using two different WD NAS in two different locations.
I am not concerned about NAS and the network; not all MP3 files play fine with V4.9, whereas with V4.8, there are no issues.
Since I found a good fix for the iRadio, I decided to stay with V4.8.
The intriguing question is: why does the same MP3 file stall when played from the NAS via UPnP, and not from the pendrive via the USB port?
Is there anything wrong with the app on the iPhone?
As far as I understand, if MP3 correctly run from USB direct in 4.9, there is no issue in the app …
On my side, I don’t use the app frequently, I select from menu in ND5XS.
So I do think an issue is in 4.9 coding, not in the app itself …

Dear Bertrand,
First of all, are there any new requirements for NAS, Ethernet, switch, and router with V4.9?
I am not aware; the network should be neutral for such a change; if it is good with V4.8, it should also be good with 4.9, I suppose.
Secondly, I use only the iPhone or the iPad to interface with NAIM devices.
With V4.9 installed, I select an MP3 track on the NAS that stalls with UPnP.
When I choose the same track from the pendrive via the USB port, I get a first stall, but the track restarts correctly after a second or less.
Why does the first time stall and not the second one?
And why is there a retry via the USB port and not via UPnP?
Such a different behaviour lies with the iPhone app and the firmware, apparently.
I do not want to bother you and all the other readers.
Kind regards
