I sadly have a problem with my mu-so 2 (again) after trying to prompt the latest update through the app on my phone two days ago.
It is usually connected via WiFi, and HDMI to my TV.
Ever since, the unit is frozen with the control wheel spinning. The led is green. First, I thought this may just be an indication of the update. However, when nothing changes for a couple of hours, I got suspicious. I could neither reach the unit through the app (it told me there was a problem connecting/finding the unit) nor through the remote control. So I unplugged it and left it for an hour. When plugging it back into power, it went straight into the spinning control wheel. Trying to reset showed no reaction.
For the next night, I left the unit powered on with the spinning control wheel. In the morning it was still spinning. Yesterday, I left the unit unplugged for the whole day, plugging it back in today morning: still the spinning ā¦
I have now connected to my network via a LAN cable, cause maybe the WiFi was unstable when updating, but for two hours now nothing has changed.
Is there anything else I can do?
Would be great if at least resetting it would work somehowā¦
Failed updates seem to be a āfeatureā of Naim devicesā¦ more reported than with other devices. The lack of any coherent feedback during the update process (other than the spinning wheel is anxiety producing).
Wiim devices have received frequent updates over the last year or so - there are never any reports on their forum of updates failing or bricking devices. The app also provides a clear & informative view of the update process.
Naim need perhaps to rethink their updating procedure?
Yes, I have tried to reset multiple times to no avail, thereās simply no reaction, the wheel continues spinning, the light is still green, nothing changes. Is there a harder reset than the one by inserting a pin and pressing the internal button for 10-30sec?
Sorry to hear that, I see you left the unit already 24 hours without being plugged in, which would be my next advice ā¦ perhaps others here might have an idea ā¦
Yeah, I thought leaving it unpowered may solve the issue. Iām wondering whether itās something possible to reset the firmware via the usb port, but I couldnāt find any info on that and I guess the unit doesnāt work like a pc where I would be able to restore the system from a stickā¦
I had a similar problem with ours.
I un plugged it for an hour or so, then plugged it back in to the mains, and did a re set and then update. It was fine after this.
Or you could just leave it as it is, as some think the software will adapt and yours could be still adapting into its new software obviously i am being sarcastic.
Holding the reset button in, during power up, is indeed a āhard re-setā worth a try as a last resort.
Iāve done it when my wifi connection kept failing. It goes through the āclock dialā sequence were all volume lights come on and tick down over a few minutes
Mine just took a couple of days to updateā¦ I left it powered on with the looping volume weil and one day it switched itself off and when starting it again it was working just fine. I guess, just give it time to update, even daysā¦
