The star button on the latest version of the Mu-so 2 remote doesn’t seem to have any real function. I presume it is related to favourites but it doesn’t appear to be able to select favourites (remotely).
Am I doing something wrong?

Your first mistake was trying to use it. Stick it back in the box and use a phone or iPad. For a bit more fun, try changing the battery.
I use my spare Android phone as the main controller but find the remote handy for volume control, muting etc when I don’t want to faff about with the phone.
An earlier version of the remote did not have this button. My user guide (unhelpfully) shows this earlier version.
I upgraded my Muso Gen 1 to Gen 2 last week. After pulling out the plastic tab of the remote it wouldn’t work at all.
Before calling the dealer I thought I’d change the battery, (which was a mission in itself), and hey presto it worked!
Can’t see me using it much though.
Still wondering how (or whether) the star button works. Everything else on the remote works just fine.
Any clues appreciated!
The star button cycles through the presets. Say you have five radio stations stored - repeatedly pressing the star will move from 1 to 2, 2 to 3 etc. I find it rather useful.
I left the remote in the box … I use mine only via app or manual via the control dial on top of the unit.
As HH writes: you need to “elevate” a select few “favorites” to “presets”. You can do this in the menu for existing favorites.
(I only have Uniti:s, but it seems to work very similar, including the ★ for presets, both on-device and on the remote.)
Never even seen the remote to Muso 2 (or Qb 2), the box is away in store, so I presume that is where the remote resides.
iOS app does the job very well; no “faff” involved!
Ah - if you are on Android; hopefully Santa will oblige with a workable phone!
If the batteries are in the remotes and they’re in long term storage it might be worth removing them to forestall possible problems with leakage.
