I have owned my Mu-so 2 for two months and it has worked perfectly. Up to yesterday that is, when I saw an update offered in the app. I clicked on that and then on download
Got the device not found screen. At that pont everything has gone haywire!
The unit is 100% unresponsive but the light on the side is white. The volume etc controller on the top is a circling white light. The reset button doesn’t work nor does the remote. The only way to switch the Mu-so off is at the mains.
I have tried rebooting my router and uninstalling/reinstalling the Naim app. Nothing works.
I updated mine as update became available. No issues for me luckily.
It’s normal during the update to not see the device anymore, mine changed device name as well and lost the custom I defined but was an easy fix redoing and have no consequences.
I assume you did attempt a reset via the hidden button that requires a needle to be operated, where the light is. It would be my first action, maybe if you can check if connecting to LAN makes it visible in the app once again and a new update cycle can be started.
Is the Router recognizing the device? If you see it in the wifi and know the IP you may use the IP to access a web configuration page via a browser and see if you find help there
Hello,
Please help! Same here!
After updating the firmware of my Mu-So 2 (nearly 2y old) it is totally unresponsive and the light indicator shows blue color. It is connected to the network via Ethernet and I am able to see the status via web browser. After multiple restarts there is no change
The only red flag at the status is at the Airplay and it shows the following “Unable to find auth. chip!” - Not sure what it is.
Now I am doing 60 min off “procedure”.
Thank you,
Mladen
I got in touch with both the dealer and Naim. They were very helpful. Unfortunately I have ended up with the LED on the side of the unit which flashes red. Which indicates a fault.
The Mu-so 2 is now back in its box awaiting return to the retailer and onward dispatch to Naim.
Very disappointing after just 2 months of (pleasurable) ownership.
After trying all possible tricks I am now waiting for Naim support to contact me back. Unfortunately my warranty is longtime gone.
Will update promptly.
Depending on firmware updates is obviously a risky strategy, given the possibility of bricking the device. Updates via software (eg. The app) would be much preferable.
I understand that. A modular software design would allow for components to added or changed without the need to do risky firmware updates to just add/modify a feature. Certainly the firmware update should contain a fail-safe routine should something go wrong.
