Multiroom Issue with Roon since Naim update

Multiroom
Since the update this week multiroom is out of sync.
It seems that this only applies when using Roon because using the Naim app it’s fine (even using the Roon server).
Strange …

I can only tell what happened with my UQs.

  1. Turned on Roon in my study
  2. Went into kitchen to make breakfast and turned on Roon as a group of the study.
  3. Noticed that kitchen music lagged behind study’s.
  4. Opened Naim app, closed Roon, and played music in both rooms. All in sync.
  5. A while later my iPhone control point asked to update Roon. After that multiroom was in sync.

What version of Roon so you have ? I’ve got build 1496 and have a synchronisation problem

I spoke too soon - it’s playing up again this morning. I’ll post something on the Roon forum.
My Roon version is 2.47 build 1507

Sorry to hear that. Are you on a pre release version of Roon ? The latest I can see is 2496, released on 15th Jan.
There’s an issue open about this, since Nov, on the Roon forum

Perhaps you can clear up some confusion. Is this Naim multiroom or is it a functionality within Roon?
If it is the latter, perhaps a clear amendment to the thread title would be possible?
Long time user of Naim multiroom but never used or considered Roon, thanks

Good point - initially it was a problem with both, now just Roon.

Yes it’s an early access version. Just strange that the problem only came to light after the Naim update for legacy kit.

I had access to a Muso 2 running older firmware (ver 4.3.2) yesterday. Running it in Roon multiroom with an ND5XS2 didn’t show the problem, however when we updated it to 4.4.1 then it did. Roon versions were the same.
Naim multiroom was stable with both firmware versions.
I’ve updated Naim support, fingers crossed.

There is a parallel thread on the subject of multiroom with Roon, which reports this issue is with Roon iiuc.

No certainty that this is a Naim issue.

@Ed612313 perhaps you or worth asking @Richard.Dane to amend, the title of this thread to include “….whilst using Roon”

It is also worth anyone mentioning a multiroom issue, to specifically clarify as to whether they are utilising Roon or not.

Ime, Naim multiroom works very well with a number of different streamers including legacy.
No experience of Roon here!

Hi, I have few MuSo and indeed since last firmware, I have sync issues with playing via Roon RAAT. Airplay (via Roon) is okay though. And previous firmware was okay. Would appreciate if Naim take this seriously and investigate what changes wrt RAAT protocol.

I am experiencing the same issue with my NDX 2, my MuSo Generation 2 and my Roon server. All are on the latest versions of software/firmware. I also find that the sync problem does not happen if I am using the Focal/Naim app or other protocols through via Roon.

@BaronKas and @PFACoumans can you report this to Naim support directly ? I have a ticket about it but the more people that report it the better I’d hope. Even more effective might be if you can replicate it with your dealer and ask them to put in a ticket too.

I have just bought 2 musos in addition to the one I already own, plus a NDX5 XS2 for their ability to use RAAT multiroom. I cannot accurately express my disappointment in suffering the same out of sync problems as outlined on this thread. Very very disappointing from a supposedly high end brand. Totally ruins my experience.

Using RAAT I have done some extensive testing this morning which seems to be conclusive in my initial findings. My streamer is a NDX5 XS2. I have just bought 1 Muso and 1 Muso QB, they both have 4.3.1 FW, I also have another Muso which is about 8 months old, which I updated the FW to 4.4.1.
The Muso with 4.4.1 is out of sync, the others play perfectly, there is no issue with them. Clearly it appears to be the FW 4.4.1 that is the issue.
I will keep testing and update if there is any change.
