For those that still buy downloads - as a non-streamer I seem to be in the minority these days - Highesaudio have 15% off already reasonable prices - use the code XMAS at the checkout.
You are definitely not alone - still preferring my owned music collection. Just see streaming as an option to explore music.
Just bagged these CDs off the HMV sale on-line.
Not ones I would have bought full price or at the extortionate download prices but worth it at a tad under £30 for the 5 CDs.
The Beatles- Sergeant Pepper super deluxe on the river for £54.96.
This 7-LP box set is available from the river for under £70. Thanks to Jim (Dan Steel, once of this forum) for the heads up!
I remember back in the mid-eighties flicking through the racks at Virgin in Oxford Street (a long loss pleasureable passtime) in search of anything by Tim Buckley - all on import at the time and costing a mind blowing £8 but well worth the investment - Sweet Surrender off Greetings from LA is up there as one of my favourite tracks of all time.
What happended to Dan Steel - I miss his contributions.
I too would like to know what happened to Jim ( DanSteel ) ?
Not sure but he seems to have been removed from the forum?
This is my collection of Tim Buckley albums - got to be in the mood though - love his version of the Fred Neil classic Dolphins especially live on the Dream Letter album.
I tend to visit certain charity shops in a rather exclusive area and find a lot of CD’s donated when people have passed away to the shops on sale at very reasonable prices sometimes as low as 20pence a CD!
I purchase any ones that take my fancy and then return them on my next visit after ripping to my NAS a bit like borrowing from the library but for a good cause, if you see what I mean.
Brilliant - a few there that had slipped me by, thanks AndyP
Cherry Red Records 20% off during January Discount Code CRJAN20. Plenty of wierd and wonderful reissues.
Qobuz have added some Coldplay the their winter sale list, they’re Mrs Mike’s favourite band so have bought some 24 bit to replace the CD rips
@Mike-B how was the metadata? As I reported in another thread, my latest qobuz sale purchase of 6 albums had absolutely zero metadata!
All the metadata was included, but as always with Qobuz the folder script needed editing
Do Qobuz put metadata in the files themselves or do they just leave them as is from the publisher? I’ve downloaded more than a few using download codes with vinyl purchases that have no metadata at all
As IME it’s only Qobuz that screw up this way, it’s them or their supplier doing something.
I was hoping to order the Andrew Gold anthology but unfortunately the discount doesn’t apply to selected products.
Sorry - the email did actually say it only applied to Cherry Red Label items. Should have gone for that Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine box set you never knew you wanted!
