Muso 2 vs Cambridge Evo One

Now that a few months have passed since the Cambridge Evo One launch, I was wondering if there are other folks who have switched over to the Cambridge device? I have a Muso 1 and have been patiently waiting for a Muso 3 launch rather than pick up a Muso 2 albeit at a heavily discounted price. However an upgraded version doesn’t appear to be on the Naim cards any time soon. Hence my interest in the Evo One. Would be great to hear from folks who have switched to the Cambridge alternative for their impressions on the sound quality and overall build. Thanks.

Ex muso Naim r&d now work at Cambridge, make of that what you will. No idea if they actually got involved, though I’d be surprised if not.
There’s also the Sonus faber omnia which looks pretty good and wins on build and style.

I had a Mu-so 1 Gen and now have a Cambridge Evo One, swapping one for the other.

I also tested Mu-so 2 and Ruark R410 (I think), plus some active streaming speakers.

The Mu-so’s are great, but in the end I felt they were older and so life was limited for them. The Evo one acts as a soundbar, which the Mu-so wasn’t great for, 2 gen might have been better.

The Evo has the screen and mm input, which was helpful.

I am not disappointed by the Evo, it’s clear powerful and balanced.

Richersounds were great (as always) and I managed to get mine when supplies were very short.

Give it a demo.

Thanks for the feedback. I also listened to the Ruark R410 against the Muso 2, and the Muso was better to my ears. I currently use the Muso-1 as a sound bar for the TV. Works well enough and looks cool. I’m shortly arranging a B2B between the Evo One and Muso 2. Will add a post on my thoughts.

I listened to the Evo One for about 30 minutes on a demo room from a HiFi shop. Was wondering how it compares to MuSo 2 I own.
I came out with not no clear answers.
Totally subjective to my ears, listening to tracks’ I know very well from my systems at home - MuSo 2 included - I had a hit and miss experience with some being more clear, pristine and wider in soundstage while others were the opposite. I tend to recall that the better the record, the better the Evo One scored vs the MuSo 2, but overall for by selection of music I was not going for a switch.

I’ll give a try with Kef LS50 Wireless II as well, maybe is time to split the device in two pieces

Thanks for sharing, appreciated.

There is a 4* review on the What Hifi page.

I’m not sure what they meant about the bass…sounds fine to my cloth ears.

Worth a read, but as always an audition is useful.

Read that - not tested the “antisocial volumes” that would impact consistency of bass vs the rest  - and most of it feels correct after my listening session. Still, overall, the MuSo 2 won to my ears (and it was a 5* on What HiFi , for what it matters).
