My Ethernet wired Muso gen 1 (fw 2.0.0) has recently started randomly and intermittently disconnecting from the network and consequently disappearing from the app.
I have been using AirPlay more often than before, tvOS 18 Apple Music → Muso1 and sometimes the Muso just stops & afterwards it’s gone from the network, no IP allocated shows up in my router, can’t ping it nor reach its home page. The only way to bring it back is the usual unplug it from the wall, wait & re power it.
I can’t confirm whether the recent tvOS18 and/or any changes in AirPlay may be causing the issue, any advice or ideas to further debug? Thanks.
I’ve had that happen where the Muso still showed up in my router interface with an IP it had leased but suddenly not producing sound which I put down to Airplay being its less than reliable self. The fix was simply to reboot the Muso, gateway router and mesh points until it finally worked.
I’ve also had it not work more often due to losing its IP due to poor wifi connectivity all of a sudden. The good news is I fixed all instances of Airplay not working or network drops by hardwiring everything with Ethernet cable (Orbi router and satellite, my iMac that stores my music, my Muso and a Devialet Phantom system which suffered the same drops problems.)
Thanks, as the title and descr suggest I am already using Ethernet. When the Muso1 stops, it no longer shows up in my router, no IP assigned nor can I ping its previously assigned IP via DHCP. I can operate the unit using the physical controls but as the network part isn’t functional it’s pretty much dead weight.
It’s though the network stack has « crashed » or become unresponsive after hours of airplay. I’ve installed a smart plug that I control from my iPhone when the Muso1 doesn’t show up in either the naim app or the airplay devices list.
I wonder if a static IP address might be something to try…,
Great idea using a static or reserved IP. I had your issue with a HP printer once just dropping offline for no reason. It was on wifi about 6 feet (and within line of sight!) of my router. HP suggested I try and static IP and that solved the problem. I think it’s worth a shot.
Thanks, I set a static IP. I usually leave the music playing for hours, we shall see later on. I learned to use ETH where possible (especially w Naim products), luckily I wired ETH cat6 in every room in my house while it was being built!
Maybe too soon to tell 6 hours later, the Muso1 wasn’t playing music and was off, same behaviour as before. But this time it was still visible on the network.
Wrote too fast, maybe 30mns later it stopped & turned off, probably bcoz airplay stopped and the 20mn timer kicked in. It’s still visible on the network & shows up on airplay list but no music nor airplay input shows up on Muso1. Some funky airplay & muso1 issue, I am gonna call it a day.
I am airplaying from a wired ATV4k to Muso1, Muso-Qb2 & 3 HomePod mini. The Muso1 is the only device that stops after sometime. I’ll check in another 6 hours too.
Thanks, appreciate you keeping me company and happy holidays. I think there isn’t much to try or do. Ill just keep rebooting it when the issue happens.
