You can do this with a USB stick, although navigating your music can be a bit limited/tricky. Probably the best way to do it with the original Mu-Sos is to connect an iPod to the USB port.
As long as your local wifi network is operational and the relevant inputs are enabled, you could just use the app as normal. No need for internet IIRC.
