Muso Qb2 analogue multiroom help please…

Hi, I cannot find an answer here for my problem, so posting it:

I connected a turntable to a Muso Qb1 and tried to multiroom the audio to my other devices. This did not work, multiroom was not showing in the app. I then read that you needed a Qb2… which I also have. So, I connected the Qb2 to the turntable and et voila, multiroom showed up…

Except, while I can connect the Qb2 to my NDX and Muso1, and other Muso devices (party mode works), there is no audio playing on any of them except the Qb2 that has the turntable connected to it.

What am I missing? The Qb2 is playing the turntable perfectly and is happily showing multiroom and connecting to the other devices, but no music is playing on them.

Please enlighten me!

The Mk1 Muso does not have the ability to play an analogue signal over multiroom.

If multiroom isn’t showing on the Muso it may be because it hasn’t been enabled in the input settings menu.

So, for anyone finding this thread that wants to know, Naim support just got back to me:

… unfortunately, you cannot multi-room any analogue inputs with the Mu-so range. Multi-room is digital only, and an analogue turntable input won’t work with this. On the Mu-so range and our streaming products, only digital inputs can be used for multi-room playback. The analogue signal entering your Mu-so Qb2 can only be played locally on that specific unit. The device cannot digitise and stream an analogue input out to your other Naim units over the network.

So, with the Qb2, even though the multi-room icon shows on the analogue input in the app, and you can connect to other devices, it won’t work. There we go!

You can buy an A to D converter with SPDIF output by coax or optical cable from Lindy or Bluestream for about £52UK that would do the job.

So. That doesn’t work either. Argh.

I can only surmise that with the Qb2 analogue and digital inputs, even though multi-room shows in the app and you can connect to other Naim devices, nothing is streamed to said devices from either of those inputs.

Anyone want to buy a BluStream and QED optical lead?

Oh, sorry about that. But Naim support gave you hope that digital inputs could be used for multi-room.

I haven’t used a Qb2 myself, but with these older units, multiroom is sometimes restricted if the Naim devce is connected by WiFi rather than Ethernet. Also I recall that anyway you can’t multiroom high resolution files, so you could explore using a less hires a to d conversion.

Hi @GrizzlyHippo can you get multiroom to work with any other QB2 inputs, such as internet radio?

FWIW (won’t help you with the Qb2) The second part of this is not correct. I can multiroom analogue inputs from my Uniti just fine.
