I’ve received my new phone (iPhone 16 Pro Max)which came with IOS 18.01. I’ve updated it to 18.1. When I start the Naim app I do not see my Muso2 listed in ‘my devices’.
On my iPad Air 4, which is also updated (iPad OS 18.1), my Muso2 is normally visible in ‘my devices’.
Does anyone has the same issue?
Have you tried dragging the my devices screen down?
Yes. I tried that. It does show the spinning wheel (or whatever it is called).
Try turning the muso off at the wall, then on again.
Further to the above, does your MuSo appear as a local device at the bottom of the devices page? As per this:
If so, you should be able to assign it to a room.
New phone, first time running the (Focal &) Naim app?
Check: Settings - Apps - Focal & Naim - local network must be enabled.
Thanks all for your support. Unfortunately none solved the issue. I’ve also removed and re-installed the app and allowed it to access devices on my network. Though, that also did not solve the issue. Looks like to be IOS18.1 in combination with iPhone16 Pro Max specific.
My son has an iPhone 16 Pro Max with iOS 18.1 and he just installed the Naim App and he can see both my Qb and Star without any issue. So, it is not an iOS 18.1 or Phone 16 Pro Max problem. You must be connected to a different Wi-Fi network than the other devices or you have an issue with double NAT (two devices on your network issuing IP addresses).
I have 16 Pro Max and 18.1 and both my Muso2s work fine. It might be something else.
Hi XMB, my Muso2 is indeed connected to an ‘older’ time capsule an my iPhone (and my iPad that does show the Muso2 in the app) is connected to my newer Netgear ORBI mesh WiFi. The Muso could not deal with the ORBI automatically switching between 2.4 and 5ghz.
I use an Orbi MESH system and have no issue with my QB (1st gen) and Star. Make sure your Orbi firmware is up to date. If the Apple Time Capsule is in Router mode rather than Access Point (AP) mode you will have double NAT and this will stop things working correctly.
Hi XMB, thanks for taking the time to help. The ORBI is the only router in my network. The Time Capsule is acting purely as access point (bridge mode). All firmware is kept up to date. I’m intrigued that you have no issues connecting your QB directly to the ORBI without having the issues I have/(had?) with automatically switching between 2.4 and 6 ghz. I have an ORBI RBR750. After initially (about 3 years ago) having had issues I decided to use my Time Capsule as AP purely for my MUSO-2. Since it worked, I never touched it again. But I might give it a try now.
Is the Time Capsule wired or wireless? Using it to extend an existing network, the settings required vary depending on your network, and getting it right can seem counterintuitive.
I had all sorts of problems with mesh systems and extenders. I went through three mesh setups - an Orbi, a Nest and something else if forget - and had so many problems with Naim boxes vanishing off the network, despite the Naims being wired to the mesh boxes, and wired backhaul. Boxes would vanish for days on end and then reappear by themselves. I fixed it all by ditching mesh and getting a very powerful Netgear Nighthawk. All the Naims are wired to it and the WiFi is strong enough to cover the whole house. From day I it’s just worked, hopefully saying that won’t be the kiss of death.
Your problems won’t be anything to do with the muso or the phone, but something in your network setup.
I think I had a similar problem some time ago with my Muso Qb 2nd Gen on WiFi. I read somewhere about connecting it directly to the router temporarily so the Muso could be refound. In my case this worked and I was then able to put the Muso back in its original position and I’ve never had a problem with my WiFi connection since. Touch wood.
That worked for me on my initial setup of my Qb2.
