Since purchasing my Muso2 @ three years ago, the price has dropped dramatically. I am wondering why.
If I recall correctly the price dropped dramatically quite some time ago and not too long after its launch. Perhaps this was due to the initial price being too high versus competitive products and sales were much lower than expected???
Quickly checking few prices:
- B&W Zeppelin - 800€
- Naim MuSo 2 - 1200€
- Cambridge Evo One - 1400€
- Ruark r410 - 1400€
- Sonus Faber Omnia - 1800€
I’d say it’s an age thing, aiming lower than the newer guys but still premium. I bought mine 2nd hand, so this was a good thing
It’s actually €999 in Benelux, with the price dropped in Black Friday 2023 and kept at this level since then. Given that mu-so 2Qb has reached the end of life, I expect a similar fate for mu-so 2 soon and a replacement with a 3rd gen (maybe even Focal branded?)
This was c£1500 when new but I paid £600 from a dealer as he said that’s all it was worth to his ears…. Suspect he just wanted to move it on.
Only so much performance you can get from an all in one and it sounds ok, a tiny bit behind the muso performance wise but I like the design!
Very similar to the UK where you can buy for £849, so approx Euro 1000 at current exchange rates.
Agree we could see a further drop if or when MuSo 3 appears.
I am still using a MuSo 1 primarily for the television but also for background music. If we see a further drop in price I might consider a MuSo 2.
Cambridge and Ruark now offer strong competition!
I will take a look if/ when I change
Cannot tell Ruark having not demoed it - but I do not like the design and the remote, plus it miss a companion app, may be relevant for some use cases. On Cambridge Evo One I was interested, did a listening session but confirmed my Muso 2 overall as al almost no brainer. Subjective, as it should be.
I’m tempted more by Kef, as LS50 Wireless II second-hand are affordable, selling at usually 1.300€, and will do a listening session this week end.
Yes, I do like integrated all-in-one setups for my studio room (secondary system).
Not tried either of them. Still have a Mu-So 1 so…
I was underwhelmed by the Kefs…
I recently bought a QB2 white they were still available and noticed a standard MuSo was not that much more expensive. I was very tempted, but sense eventually prevailed as it was just too big for our kitchen worktops. But in other locations, I’d have gone for it.
Perhaps now the QB is on the way out, perhaps demand for MuSos will pick up.

Will update you after my run
I am not convinced by any one box solution. I bought a Muso 2 a while back and really didn’t like it. I tried all manner of positions to get a clearer sound, without any luck. I already had a Superuniti and Harbeths which I really like (I know much more expensive new).
So I changed the Muso to a second hand SuperUniti and a pair of small but decent speakers. It was like night and day. Clear as a bell with good musicality. The used SuperUniti and speakers cost the same as the Muso 2 did new.
I mostly listen to speech radio for which I find it perfect. I also go for simplicity these days
The muso is good for what it is in my view but it isn’t ever going to be better than a pair of speakers and separates.

For me it has not to sound better, as it’s not a pair of speakers. It has to sound good for what it is (and it does, for me).
What I do love and one of the reasons I bought it is how it looks. I felt in love right away. I’m a lover for industrial design, this has a weight on my overall score.
While I may be open for speakers (e.g. Kef) I’m still for integrates as for my desk in home working studio room I want to avoid any clutter by wires and boxes, so even a WiiM Amp Pro + Speakers is not doing the trick. It’s background music anyhow, love it to be great but can live with good.
As with all things I purchase, it has to bring pleasure. Technical, tactile and visual. All part of the equation.
I reckon most posters on the forum have a main system and buy a MuSo or QB for use as a secondary source of music, particularly in locations where separate speakers are not feasible or you’re always moving around, such as preparing food in a kitchen. But a Uniti plus good speakers is always going to sound better than a MuSo; it’s reflected in the (new) price. Horses for courses and all that.
Roger
Never said it would not.
