I’m going to actively avoid adding it up.
I’ve sold a lot of (non naim) gear.
But mainly to make me feel less bad about the naim stuff I’ve bought.
Started year with main system of Naim Star and Neat Xplorers, finished it with an all analogue Rega / Neat System.
Feb
Purchased pre-loved Rega RP3/Elys2 (my first T/T) with Fono MM from @Cymbiosis as a lockdown treat.
March
Upgraded to ex demo Rega P8/Apheta2 part exchanging the RP3 back with Cymbiosis
April
Upgraded to pre-loved Rega Aria Mk2 from ebay
Added Witch Hat Phantom speaker cables
November
Purchased ex demo Rega Aethos from Cymbiosis
Part exchanged Rega Aria and Naim Star for ex demo Rega Aura phonostage from 2nd Hand HiFi
Diddly squat this year. I’m happy and dont need anything currently. Just enjoying what I have more.
2021:
- Dynaudio Sub 6 added to the setup
- AudioQuest NRG-Z3 power cables
- Atom → Atom HE
- AudioQuest NRG-Z3 → Monsoon powercable into the Niagara
Verry happy with the result. And no upgrade plans for 2022.
Changed everything in May to
Nova and ATC SCM11 with witch hat N2 cables and FS signature stands.
Just spent the last week adjusting speaker positioning.
I am now very happy listening to music!
We should repeat together the AA sermon :
“ “God, give us grace
to accept with serenity
the things that cannot be changed,
courage to change the things
which should be changed,
and the Wisdom to distinguish
the one from the other”
Significant upgrade year for me. Time to give the wallet a rest!
April: Purchased Witchhat Phantom speaker cable and Morgana IC for my NDX2
August: Purchased 2nd hand just serviced 300DR P/ex 200DR
October: Purchased additional Simrack shelves
December: Purchased 2nd hand just serviced 552 P/ex 282 &HCDR
On the hifi front, sweet Francis Adams.
But I’ve built a lot of Lego
Jan- bought new 555dr power supply to replace xpsdr on my ndx2
Oct- bought demo 552dr to replace 52
Oct- bought preloved 500dr to replace Olive 135s
A GOOD YEAR!!!
With all the crap going on in the world, seems unfair to be honest
Need to be thankful for so much
David
We have omitted to say that we bought the nipper dog. It’s a part of the system, like a gris gris, protecting the system from nasty influences.
I think you meant to say, “I plead the five-hundredth”
My first Naim amp in 1979. This year NDX2 replaced with ND555 and 300DR with 500DR. My LP12 and record collection to my son - he grew up listening to my music. Happy Xmas.
“My name’s Mark, and it’s been 19 months since I bought a piece of hifi.”
(if servicing my 202 and 200 this Spring doesn’t count…)
Discovered the cantilever of my SPU Royal N had become skewed from under biasing, swapped the DV17D3 onto the arm and sent the Ortofon off to be rebuilt. Missed the SPU even after I’d found the DV needed a 1nF loading plug (using current arm) as well as resistive loading to communicate emotion. 8 weeks after sending it I swapped the rebuilt SPU back in, this time with a bit more attention paid to bias setup.
Bought a MuSo qb2.
Yes, several of us did indeed buy Nipper during 2021! Well remembered, FR
New full fat Naim Fraim rack.
Upgraded to a pair of absolutely mint (as good as new) Piano Black Lacquer Naim n-SATs with their matching stands.
10 x metre per channel NAC A5 cables.
That’s me satisfied for a little while as i upgraded quite heavily in 2020 from entry level kit.
Next year possibly a vinyl spinner.
2021 ?
- NDX2
- 4 x VDH power cables (CDX2, NDX2, HicapDR, NAP 300DR)
Linn Krystal Cartridge
Superline and Supercap DR
Done for some time (famous last words)
The year started with trying swapping systems between rooms, the Nova from the office to the lounge and the SN2/HiCAP/XPSDR/NDX2 to the office, which would then double as a media room. This worked out well and led to a Fraim Lite and the main system changing to a 252/SCDR/250DR/NDX2/555PS with a Superlumina IC for the 250 and a new Burndy on the 555/NDX2. Also tinkered with some DIY room treatment that I’m pretty pleased with.
I’m pretty much done expect for maybe another Burndy for the SC/250.
