My 252

Way too late on a Saturday night here for a quick call to my dealer and I can’t find anything online or in the manual. My mute button is flashing and there’s no volume, can anyone help.

Hi Pete

With the 252 mute flashes when the main power supply is not connected and the only power it’s getting is from the NAPSC.

252 doesn’t have NAPSC but maybe the Supercap is not working properly.

You are of course correct, sorry was thinking of the same sympton on if on my 282

Reconnect both burndy and snaic is first thing I’d do. Also means you will power cycle the SC. Likely issue is lose cable or sticky relay.

Sorry to read to Pete, I would do what @Thegreatroberto suggested and remove burndy / snaic. Also visually check for signs of any strain between the connectors and leads.

How did you get on Pete ?

Still an issue, pulled everything apart yesterday which I really didn’t want to do as I’ll be moving in around 6 to 8 weeks. Fiddled with all the connections including the power and still no music.

It’s Monday morning here so a phone call to my long suffering dealer Harry for help.

Fingers crossed for a simple fix :crossed_fingers:

It’s appears I may have sat on the remote and reprogrammed the RCA inputs. :upside_down_face:

Hopefully should be able to sort it out later today.

Hi Pete- If you have inadvertently entered the programming mode on your pre-amp, simply press and hold the PROG key on the remote. This should complete the process and return the pre-amp to the normal listening mode. If your main source is a DIN 5 output equipped Naim component, you could also move the input cable from the CD input on your pre-amp to the TUNER input. The TUNER input can’t be programmed, so it should work unless your Naim source component has been programmed for RCA use. If the pre-amp still flashes once you have exited the programming mode on your NAC 252, the problem is most likely to be located in your Supercap power supply, or the two cables which connect the Supercap to the NAC 252, or possibly in your NAC 252. Unless you have back up Naim products at home, you will most likely need to visit your local Naim dealer to be able to do further diagnostics. Good luck, Bruce

I see from the system pics thread that wasn’t the problem and you have had to send it off for checking. Good luck with the diagnosis!

It’s appears it’s the Supercap, my 252 isn’t the problem. Waiting to find out what’s the issue and how much to repair it.

Damn, your Supercap was new, if I recall correctly. Hopefully a quick fix, maybe a blown DR module. Make sure the power leads to the 252 are checked too.

I touched them with a screw driver while plugged in, they’re working fine. :upside_down_face:

The Supercap is about 5 years old, it didn’t surprise me as it was rather hot and it hadn’t been switched on that long (not a good sign).

It’s off to hospital as it’s not something Harry can fix.
