Wow- the best post have seen in quite a while, thank you so much for sharing your wonderful work here. The two shot per artist gatefold presentation is well, brilliant!

Some brilliant musicians Chick Corea, Joe Henderson stand out.

One of the best concerts I’ve been to was around the same time November 1989, John McLaughlin Trio live at the Royal Festival Hall, recorded for posterity and still sounds incredible.

Thanks for sharing.

I have two jazz pics, Herbie Hancock and Miles Davis.

But not done by me.

As seasoned photographer I envy all this excellent B&W photos, fantastic job, helping all of us to keep in touch with history of jazz. As someone who love jazz … it was pleasure as well. Congrats and big thank you . Elo

Thanks everybody for the kind words. I am really pleased to have found an appreciative audience.

Yes, some of these pictures are now history, sadly a good number of the artists are no longer with us. I caught a moment in Jazz where some of the older titans were still playing, and a newer modernising cohort had emerged.

I had great fun taking these picture, with what now seems really primitive gear, mostly a manual focus 300mm 2.8 lens on a Nikon 801. I used 400ASA film pushed to 1600. I took a shot at a recent concert with my iPhone to post on Social Media. The technical quality is not far off my pushed film shots.

Yes, I managed to see and hear, a lot of my musical heroes, including Pat Metheny, who is my absolute Jazz hero.

The one of Enrico Rava crouched down listening to the others is one of my favourites too.

My all time favourite is the the Joe Henderson shot. He was a nice guy too.

Such a wonderful collection. Everyone looks so young, even Jimmy Giuffre, Kenny Wheeler, and Carla Bley, three of my absolute favorites (but of course, I’m omitting dozens more).

Yes, the crouched one was my favourite. But your collection is a treasure trove throughout.
