Something just sounds right about Nagra, I only have their amp, but have heard a full Nagra system in person. Surprisingly, I have not seen anyone using Stenheim speakers on this forum. They always get good reviews.

Actually the little clip on the first video sounds better than the short one. About 5 minutes in to the video.

it,s my second time hearing stenheim but first time nagra i saw nagra once in a movie set one of these small rell to rell i think even hollywood use them

one more nagra video so what nagra amp you have eyactly

The Classic Amp, it is in my signature if you double click my name. The Amps they are using in the videos are the same as mine. They must have them in mono mode.

nice saw a rewiew and a video of it at Steve Huff hifi yt channel like the looks of it and it,s swiss just like myself

The Classic is a lovely amp, I have their tube DAC and PSU. I love the design of their new compact series and for Nagra the price isn’t too steep.

Yes the Nagra streamer seems to get rave reviews, it could be a relatively cheap next step for me.

The Compact Player, incorporating a DAC and streamer also looks interesting, along with their compact PSU could make a good digital system.

I have not seen that one yet, will have to look it up. My Lumin P1 acts as my streamer/Dac and preamp. Obviously an all Nagra system is on my dream system wish list, but funds are not available for that. Nagra allows you to build in steps, just like Naim with their Dacs/and power supplies. Flipping a switch on the back of my amp makes it a mono amp, doubling it’s power.

There’s one member, with a modest system, consisting in top Dartzeel pre and monos, DCS Vivaldi, and Steinheim S5.

I still have the 500 Dr on my NHB18NS mk 1. They go quite well together acctually. Wonder, what I could expect from a swap against the 108. Most probable just a MK1 model B. For sure those two have been developed to work together. I mostly worry for the 100watts into 8. Will it be enough for the Boenicke, I wonder? The 500 Dr has authority and finess. From my old 500 set, the 500Dr is without question the best part. But strangely none wanted to buy the last two boxes, while the 552 and the Superline went quite fast.

We both have swiss speakers, though from different companies and approaches. And your 5 SE is rather upper echelon compared to my 11SE. Still I wonder, if the 108 will make it for me.

Agreed with all the comments re the 500DR. Likewise I also found, in my system, the 500DR to be the star performer.

As I worked on my transition away from my 500 system I brought a Dan D’Agostino S400MxV amplifier in for home demo. IMHO the 500DR easily held its own, and exceeded, the performance of the D’Agostino.

As for your questions regarding the DarTZeel amplifier - it easily drives my rather large Stenheim 5SE’s (agreed they are high efficiency easy to drive speakers) - so I think it should have no problems with your Swiss compatriots. As always - a demo would be the only way to confirm this hypothesis.

I have heard the DarTZeel driving several different Wilson speakers - no problem what so ever - and these are speakers not necessarily considered high efficiency

You have indeed the most impressive system here. Not on WBF discussions site, but even there, on the top.

Thank you for your reply! That is really something, that the 500 DR held its ground against the Dan D’Agostino S400 MxV amplifier. I honestly would not have expected this.

The pairing of my NHB-18NS and the 500 DR was actually a result of the 500 DR not getting sold. Everything happened within one month, but the 500 DR fell into that period when prices suddenly dropped, and I decided to keep it rather than let it go for a bargain.

Now nothing seems to be moving anymore on the second-hand market.

I might give the 108 a chance if a good second-hand opportunity comes up. Prices have dropped heavily there as well, but it is still in the price range of a car. So a MK1 will have to do for me, even though it is rated 50 watts less than the MK2.
