Hello everybody,
I own a Mu-Su 2 that is positioned in our bedroom. This is why I named it BEDROOM in the Naïm app, in system setting/device names. We had few power outages in the last year. After each one, the Mu-so 2’s network name would return to a generic factory name, something like MU-10748 or anything near that. When I understood it happens after power outage, it took some time to recognize the 1st condition that leads to the Mu-So 2’s name change, I thought the units’s behavior is like a dead CMOS battery on a pc motherboard, but found no reference to that, here, on an internet search and after a call to the Israeli dealer whom I bought it from. He advised contacting Naim’s support, they never replied my mail, so here I am. Anyone here experienced this network unit name changes automatically and know of any solution for that? Thanks! Gil.

In my case the problem was linked to ChromeCast. My troubleshooting revealed that ChromeCast will pick up a name change in the Focal/Nova app and vice versa. Sometimes immediately, sometimes a short time later. That would be OK, but sometimes ChromeCast would revert to an earlier name on its own. And the Naim app would follow…
Not sure if that is relevant to your situation.
Has happened to mine too - several times. I am not sure it is due to power interruption as I have two musos and they do not loose the naming at the same time. The “renaming” also appears to be a set of four random numbers. I am also plagued more frequently by the units switching on by themselves. Naim reckon it could be a source like Chromecast doing it but I don’t do use anything like that. I am more leaning to an internet (or router) connection interruption. I guess it is a modern technology trait that we have to put up with. I also notice that the app (iphone) often gets unsynced with the units, especially if there has been a manual switch on or off. Nothings perfect but there is a lot of listening joy.
