NA-40 5-Pin Interconnect

This came with a HICAP made in 2000. Is it a proper SNAIC or just a cheaper Naim interconnect? I thought proper SNAICs of this period where thicker and black.

That looks like a standard DIN5 interconnect (as you would use between a Naim source and Naim amp) rather than a SNAIC5 that should have come supplied with the Hicap.

Doesn’t even fit - pins are too close to one another

A 5 pin SNAIC has 240 degree pin array.
A 5 pin IC has 180 degree pin array.

Yes, it’s not supposed to fit as It’s the wrong lead for this application. See Mike’s post above.

Brilliant - thanks guys.

Seller is sending the correct 240 deg 5-pin SNAIC so all good.

Note bene - the hicap comes with a snaic 5 in the box.
Depending on what you want to use it with, you will likely need to buy a snaic 4.

I’ve already got a proper black SNAIC 4 to connect HICAP to NAP 140 so all good there as well.
