Nac 202 with 2 hicaps?

I recently acquired a Nac 202 and a hicap 2. Since I have a spare Hicap 2 can the 202 run with 2 hicaps? I know that getting a supercap would be better but since I already have it ?

Unfortunately not. The 282 can, the 202 can only use one Hicap. A Supercap would probably not be the best way to go here.

Do you have an NAPSC for the 202 ?

Edit…I see you already have an NAPSC from your previous thread :+1:

Ok . I guess I could wait for a supercap and sell the hicaps. Not sure how I would get on with a 282. I had an 82 for a very short time and did not like it.

The Supercap is a tad wasted on a 202.

You can only use two power rails from it, so how much advantage it would be over a Hicap is debatable.

Perhaps look for a Hicap DR to power the 202 ?

Bought an SC for my 102-NAPSC. No difference in SQ over my HC.

(However it was part of a cunning plan, laying foundations for a future 82/52)

(Got the 82 in the end. The 52s were going for silly money.)

Careful as you could be on the forever upgrade path. I’d probably consider selling the hicap and save up for a 282 or 82. It was my biggest upgrade which started with a NAC102/HiCap/NAP140.

Quick check on eBay
HiCap 2 - 450
NAC 202 - 700
Total - £1,150

NAC282 - £1200
So you just need to find £50 (in theory)

So far I am happy with the 202. Also not sure if a 282 is similar to a 82 . I was under the impression it was. I was not a fan of the 82 at all. Even with a recent service and 2 hicaps on the 82 I could not get it to sound as engaging as my32.5.

Of course you know your own ears, and I’ve never compared my 82 to a 282, although I understand from others that the Olive sound is different to the Classic, so it may be possible that the 282 is more like the 202, but better. I suspect others will have a better view on this.
