Hi ,
Are NAC 272 and Moon CD Drive DT 260 compatible? Did anyone use this combination?
I am facing regular cut of the signal being unable to read the CD.
Dealer and customer services of both manufacturers could provide an explanation nor solve the trouble.
Sure, it must be possible to connect to one of the digital inputs on the NAC-N 272 … both use the S/PDIF protocol so I’m surprised to hear you are having these issues.
Unfortunately, I do not have any experience using the Moon
Is that the Moon that has an optional DAC built in? If so, should be able to use the analogue RCA into the 272. The RCA digital out should also work fine.
If the Moon is unable to read the CD then that would indicate an issue with the Moon’s CD laser mechanism.
However, if you mean that the digital signal is intermittent, then it could be one or other of a a few possibilities; poor connection of the s/pdif at either end; a faulty cable; a clocking issue; a fault with one or other unit.
What kind of s/pdif connection are you making? Are you using the AES/EBU balanced, or the unbalanced 75ohm Coaxial output?
The problem is either with the Moon transport or the NAC272 or the connection between them…
If you have another device that has a digital output, try that with the 272 to see if this functions without dropouts - if this works then the problem is not with the 272 or the connecting cable. If the problem still exists, then you know it’s not the Moon.
If the problem still exists, they swap out the connecting cable and see if the issue is fixed. If not then it may be the 272. If this is the case you might want to take the 272 to a dealer to see if they have CD player that they could connect to your 272 to try and replicate the issue
