Morning chaps , currently have the 272 which I use with a lyngdorf class d power amp . Naim S400 Ovators and Whitch hat speaker cable each time I add something I’m impressed
Had the 272 for a year now and find myself beguiled by the music , my first foray into Naim and it does not disappoint. I then added the Ovators and they are wonderful , so planning my next move …
Now my question is the bel canto is fast clean and powerful and I don’t find it lacking , however as I the Naim bug has hit , what should I buy next ?
£1500 budget … do I
Buy a used nap 250dr
Or used Xps Dr for 272
Thanks in advance
Not sure what you mean: do you have a Bel Canto power amp or a Lyngdorf?
However, the 250 DR should be an ideal partner for the 272
As you appear happy with your power amp currently, I would get the XPS first if you can get one for your budget and then the 250DR when funds allow. With both the XPS and 250DR, you need to factor in service costs.
I second the suggestion of an XPS (with DR if possible). It gives the sound quality a nice lift.
XPSDR is bang for buck.
Upgrades SQ of streaming section, DAC and pre all in one go.
250DR after that.
Then you’re on the slippery slope and might end up where we are
my mistake had the bel canto before the Lyngdorf
The guy who sold me the Ovators has a teddy xps at a good price , but if I’m honest I love the aesthetics of the Naim boxes so much ….
Don’t know your power amp, but I’d go 250DR first. When the 272 came out, pairing it with 250DR was almost the default combination and they do work very well together.
As for power supplies, I’d be inclined to hold on an XPS and save up for a 555, even if budget means it’s a non-DR one. The 272 really shines with that PS.

PS I ran 272/XPSDR/250DR for several years.
