I think the differences between the 52PS and Supercap would have been very similar to those between the CDSPS and the original XPS
When I had the CDS2 and the XPS came out I initially replaced just the CDS1 with the CDS2 (I had to, the mechanism was failing) but kept the CDSPS to use with the CDS2-this required a small pin out mod in the Burndy.
Eventually I bit the bullet and got an XPS to replace the CDSPS. Sure the XPS sounded a bit crisper, but it did not have the pleasant natural warmth that the CDSPS did. I think I preferred the CDSPS overall-although I ended up giving that to my dealer to use in his personal system.
It wasns’t until the XPS2 was released that the CDSPS was bettered in every way.
I think the CDSPS, like the 52PS had dual transformers and more capacitance than the XPS1.
