Nac A5 corrosion?

The garage will be damp and cold, which is probably the cause of the problem

If you have to run it through the garage, consider running it through trunking with some silica gel in it. Then put foam pipe insulation over the trunking.

Just remember to check and change the silica gel every so often.

I’m a bit late to the party on this one, but would say if the joints are soldered correctly and the connectors are clean, there shouldn’t be any degradation of sound quality. However given the age of the cables, I would bite the bullet and replace.

Verdigris was common, if not inevitable, with NACA 4. We used to strip back to clean copper and fit new plugs. Shrink wrap was often used - often to mark + and - but with some benefit against oxidation.

A5 seemed relatively immune to this - possibly a result of the sheaf being tighter on the copper and limiting oxidation to exposed areas.

If I saw verdigris on A5 I would initially suspect an over damp environment.

I’m not convinced it’s nearly as disastrous as corrosion at the plug/socket junction.
