Hello, I am writing this from Korea. I’m not good at English, so I used a translator. Please be kind.
I am using a NAC-N 272 preamplifier and NAP200 DR.
A separate external power device is not used.
Recently, when I turn on the machine, the two PSUs immediately disconnect. The message wait 10mins appears, and even if you follow the instructions, unplug, wait for more than 10 minutes, and then turn on the power, the message continues to appear.
Even if you try factory reset, the remote control or physical buttons do not work. If anyone knows anything about this issue, please help.
You need to check that the round link module plugged into the big burndy socket on the back of the 272 is plugged in properly. I suggest turn the power off and then take the link plug out and plug it back into the 272 two or three times.
I am correcting this because I wrote something incorrectly. I tried to factory reset it, but I couldn’t do it because the remote control and physical buttons don’t work.
You can connect through the NAIM app, but it is difficult to do anything through it.
First of all, thank you for your reply, if you are referring to the 12 pin link plug, I have tried reconnecting it several times but unfortunately no progress.
The 272 uses a sense line derived from one of the main power supplies via a voltage divider - more than 3.3V = internal supply, less than 3.3V = external supply. So something is making that rail low.
Could be a failing reservoir cap or one of the fusible tracks has blown in the transformer secondaries.
So @Dalbi either you send your 272 for service, which I guess may be difficult in Korea, or you could try an external power supply. That likely would overcome the problem that Neil describes.
Thanks NeilS.
I hadn’t thought about it, but I recently added a small external DAC (operating on a 5v power supply). I tried removing it from the power strip to see if this was the cause, and the same error message still appears frequently, but when I repeatedly turn the power on and off, it sometimes works. There has been a case where I did this. At this time, it works fine as long as you don’t turn off the power. Although there is some damage to the hardware, I believe it will continue to function well. Thank you for the expert’s response, and I am also very grateful to davidhendon for seeking the opinion of the expert.
I had a problem with my ND555 where sometimes it would start up with the logo unlit and it wouldn’t respond to remote or app, though it was sometimes found by the app, sometimes it would start up normally. It started perfectly several times when the Naim rep visited, which was just after I’d removed the Powerline adaptors from the network so I thought that was it but eventually the fault came back and became more frequent until it wouldn’t work at all. The ND went back to Naim for three months and came back working fine and with apparently a new display as it had the peel off plastic on it but I don’t know what else they changed. It worked perfectly for a couple of months but then lost one channel on the DIN output, but not the RCA, so it’s gone back again.
My first contact for this was just within five years of purchase and Naim covered everything under warranty even though I’d moved from the UK to France in 2020.
