Nac202

Hi all ,what you think a 202 with the power amp section on a xs2

I tried it when I had a Nait XS, and liked the result. The power amp in the XS is a good one. No reason why that in the XS2 should be any different.

Hope it works out for you.

How were you planning on powering the 202?

You can power the 202 with the xs2.
A napsc would also be worthwhile.

From the manual:
8.8 Power Amp Mode Operation

If a NAIT XS 2 is to be used as a stereo power amp only it must be configured to operate in power amp mode:

  • With the NAIT XS 2 switched off, remove its rear panel link plug and connect the interconnect cable from the preamp or preamp power supply to the power amp in socket
Switch on the NAIT XS 2. The mute button will flash to indicate that the link plug has been removed. Press and hold the mute button until it extinguishes. The NAIT XS 2 is now in power amp mode. Its volume control indicator and button illumination will extinguish.
  • To return the NAIT XS 2 to normal operation, switch it off, replace the link plug and switch it on again.

Connect the socket circled to the power amp in socket on the xs2 using a snaic4.

A much underrated Pre the Napsc is a must though.

I always thought it needed a hicap

I would think that the resale on the XS2 and second hand prices of a NAP200dr would be extremely favourable. Better amp and DR power for the 202.

For a while i used Nac 282/HcDr into Nait XS. Like interim solution has sense

There are a few ways to power a 202:
Flatcap
or hicap
or power amp with power capability (eg 200)
Or integrated with power capability (supernait or xs)
And a napsc is optional but well worthwhile.

A HiCap is optional to make it work but needed to make it sing.
