NAC282 AV Bypass issue

I have connected my av amp up to my nac282 and switched on av bypass.
But i’m only getting sound out of the left channel.

Playback through the cd etc is fine i get sound out of both channels.

Does this need to be sent back to Naim to have its relays replaced?

Sounds like it. I had that issue with one of my preamps.

Grrr. How annoying. Anyone have any idea on how much a repair is??

The other thing to check is the interconnect between your 282 and AV amp. It happened to me twice. The first was a relay issue when my 552 was almost brand new so it was sorted under warranty. The second was the interconnect.

Your dealer will be able to get an estimate for any repair work. However, as Bryce advises, check the i/c first.

The interconnect is brand new. I have tried swapping the rca ends the other way around on the av amp ie left cable in the right socket etc and the effect is the same. Just sound out of the left speaker. Which to me sounds like the right channel relay isnt working in the amp.

Too late now but i’ll try it again in the morning but with the av bypass switched off.
Then i’ll try the same cable but from the rca out on my cd player to the cd input on the 282.

After a bit more testing it looks like its the cable.
I have tried:

  1. Marantz av amp L&R rca pre out —>> Nac282 av DIN (av bypass on)

  2. Marantz av amp L&R rca pre out —>> Nac282 av DIN (av bypass off)

  3. CD player L&R rca audio out —> Nac282 CD DIN

In all 3 cases i only get sound out of one speaker and a hum out of the other.

It sounds like either the Left or the Right is not connected properly on the cable.

Bit relieved its not the preamp

If when swapping the cable it hops speaker it’s the av amp or the cable if it stays in the same speaker it’s the amp

Problem solved. It was the cable.
Thanks for the replies
