Nac332 connecting to App

Hi

I have searched but cannot find.

The website states that you can connect the NAC332 to the App.

When I have tried it is no listed.

Anyone know whether you can do it and if so how?

You cannot see the 332 in the Naim app. If you have a Naim streamer as well you can use the app to control volume and select inputs on the 332 if system automation is enabled.

Very interesting the OP has likely found an errata on the NAC332 product page under the section of “Control”

Which does state :
“ * App control : Focal & Naim App”.

Most likely there is insufficient explanation by the editor regarding this published point.

As there is neither Ethernet nor WiFi connectivity in the NAC332, and there is no OS for the Naim App to communicate to, the published point is insufficiently explained.

As written above, the NAC332 can be controlled indirectly by the app, using a “System Control” connection from a compatible streamer.
My Naim NSS333 is connected to my NAC332 (a 3.5mm cable between the two) and therefore can control the volume via the app.

You dont need the cable, you have that option in the naim app as well.

Works perfect.

You activate the streamer by the app and the rig starts from standby mode like a chrismas tree.

I’ll admit that I didn’t install my system, but I seem to recall a cable of some sort running between the 333 and 332 in order for the volume to work.

I did install my system as described
Check system settings - system automation in the app

Wireless O

You don’t need a cable to connect streamer to pre as it uses Zigbee, but the power amps (250 or 350) are supplied with system automation cables to turn them on and off. Don’t bother with them myself but it does make the whole control and power up/down process quite slick if such things are important to you.

The 332 has a “Remote in” socket which means it can be switched on by the streamer.
“5.3 System automation
When using the NAC 332 with a compatible streamer and power amplifier – such as the
NSS 333 and NAP 350 – you can synchronise power on/off and logo brightness across your
system by connecting the NAC 332 with the optical system automation cables supplied
with the NAP 350.” This is how mine is turned on automatically when I play music on the streamer.
I had thought that like the old classic, it also allowed the volume to be adjusted but it’s apparently not the case.

Yes it is as ChrisSU desribed :v:t3:i use it everyday

You can use a cable (optical or electrical) between 333 and 332 if you want, but it works wirelessly so there’s no need.
Not sure why you’re not able to control volume, that should work too.

I can control the volume.
I just thought that I needed to install the cable to do so.
