NAC62 outputs

Dear forum experts
My set up is NAC62 and NAP90 and a HiCAP with several inputs (phono , CD , DAB tuner)

I would like to use a VU meter. The meter I have accepts RCA input.

Looking at the Outputs on the preamp (NAC62) the din in the right is connected to the HiCAP. Would it be possible to use a 4 pin din to RCA and connect that from the spare NAC62 output and into the VU meter and still my setup run correctly with no loss of quality ?

If it accepts an RCA input, it’s probably configured for a line level signal. I would connect it to the tape output.

Thx But the tape is an in/out so in my case not available as used as an input for another source.

What might happen if I connect to the spare output 4 pin din bearing in mind that the other output is connected to the HiCap ?

You’re probably better off using a spare hicap output. That should also be line level.

Be careful. One of the 4 pins is 24v DC power.

Is this from the HiCap or or the NAC62 ? What might happen if these late fed into RCA phone cable ?

The 62.

When the hicap is powering the 62 via the 5 pin socket, one of the connectors in the 4 pin din socket will be 24v DC.

I’d try taking the signal from the Hicap, which is designed to send multiple signals, unlike the preamp. You can’t inadvertently use a 24v feed either.

Mine is the older Hicap - Socket 1 is not labelled AUX OUTPUT but rather Passive Amp1. I assume this is performing the same function ?
