NACA5 Jumper query

Folks, looking for a wee bit of help. I recently acquired some NACA5 2 x 3.5metres. it is replacing QED Silver 12 which i bought at the same time as my B&W DM604S3s. So running a Uniti 1 to NAP200 to the B&Ws.

As the speakers are bi-wirable i also bought some NACA5 jumpers.

I think i have hooked these up correctly (see pic) but was just wanting to check as never used jumpers before (the QED went from 2 to 4 banana plugs).

Many thanks

That looks absolutely fine. Enjoy the music.

Sometimes it works better when connected on the diagonal. ie speaker cable bananas go into bottom black and top red. Jumper bananas go into top black, bottom red. Jumper spades go to the same posts as the speaker bananas.

Hey lastglance if you have a minute can you tell us what differences have you noticed between the A5 jumpers and the supplied solid jumpers?

Hi, I picked the cable up pre-loved so I dont have the solid jumpers sadly so i can’t tell you! So far so good, noting early days plus i will definitely experiment with the other config mentioned earlier in the thread.

As HH has mentionned, it all looks perfect.

As also mentionned, you can try a diagonal setup. Here are my Naca5 jumpers. You plug them like in the picture, and then you plug the speaker cables in.

Looks good to me, love the white NACA’s BTW!

The white Naca 5 sells less than the black I believe. I have always liked the white better!

I bought mine in 2013. It was much less expensive then. Dare I say, it was a bargain!

By way of an update, since the change of cable + listening with the original bi-wire config (in original picture) i was really unhappy vs my old QED Silver 12, specifically sounded muddled and lost stereo imaging; mucked about with the positioning of the speakers to no avail.

So i changed this morning to the diagonal bi-wire config mentioned by others on the thread (see pic). Early days but so far what a difference! Sounds much brighter and stereo imaging is back!

I must admit to being puzzled at how this could make such a difference

I’ve always done diagonal with multi terminals
This from a speaker designer.
The reason for this is that you always have the same impedance between the amplifier output and any drive unit in the system (the length of speaker cable plus one full link plate). It is also important that the negative wire goes to the bass negative as it gives the clearest path for the back e.m.f. from the bass driver to be sunk back through the amplifier, reducing its influence on the other drivers in the speaker.

Okay I use Witch Hat Phantom 3.5m speaker cables with Mark Grant custom 6mm2 jumpers.

This thread is the first I heard of doing “diagonal” jumpers. I just switched to Diagonal as @robert_h & @DanielH suggested…OHMYGAWD.

What a silly amount of improvement!

So by way of a further update, that’s been 2 weeks with the diagonal config of the NACA5.

The sound has improved almost daily, perhaps the cable (which i was told had been hardly used when i acquired it) is burning in now?

Stereo imaging is great , bass and treble tight, across a wide range of music.

So, in short, well happy i made the jump to the NACA5 cable.

Thx again to those on the thread for their help.

I’m so happy my Dynaudio’s don’t have those silly bi-wire terminals…

I avoid speakers that are bi-wired as well. That is one of the reasons I ruled out Spendor Classic series. Wondering about jumper quality and the correct configuration would, for me, detract from the music.

Jumpers, schmumpers. Balanced XLRs are where it’s at.
