Naim 552 Preamp with two NAP350 power amps

Just a basic question, can I use the 552 Pre with a pair of NAP 350 also I would like to use the Linn Urika 1 phono pre amp?

Thank you for the advice.

Yes, you can, but you’ll also need the following cables to allow connection as the NAP350 uses balanced XLRs rather than single-ended ones;

  1. Lead Assembly, Legacy Preamp DIN to New Classic PA XLR, Left Channel, 4 pin DIN to XLR 00-010-0244
Lead Assembly, Legacy Preamp DIN to New Classic PA XLR, Right Channel, 4 pin DIN to XLR 00-010-0244
    (2 Unique Cables needed)

Do Naim make these cables that you mention?

Yes, the product codes are in my post above.

Thank you Richard.

Oh yes, and the Urika can be connected to the NAC552 via any line level input - DIN or RCA Phono (WBT Next Gen) - via appropriate cables.

This is interesting. But i have 2 question. What could be the philosophy behind this config? Would you not be using only half of each power amp? So each one only has one channel in use.

Cheers

Martin

Martin, the NAP350 comes as a pair of Mono amps.

If it helps, I recently went down the same road, changing from Nap 300DR to a pair of 350s, to go with ND555/Nac552 and a Rega TT.Playing this combo for the first time was a real “wow” moment.

Same product code (00-010-0244) for each assembly?

I think, they come as a pair with a single code. Doubt you can buy individually? Had a set when I demo’d the 350s with my 252/SC. Nothing fancy, I looked inside the plugs and looked like mains cable.

I think they come as a pair.

Which sounds sensible - it’s was ‘codes’ (plural) which made me suspect a typo…

Ah my bad!!!

Thanks

Martin
