Naim app on iPhone will not find ND5 XS 2

My ND5 XS 2 used to work with my iPhone Naim app
I have changed my iPhone and now the app can not find the ND5

My iPad can find it, and works. iPad all good.

My iphone app will not find it on the app.
If I open a browser on the iphone and put the IP address in then it opens the web interface on the ND5 - so it has IP connectivity.
This works for wifi or for ethernet in terms of IP connectivity.

I have factory reset the unit - same result
I have deleted and re-installed the app on iphone - same result

Why can’t the app on the iphone find the device?
iPhone is running iOS 18.3.2
Naim app is 7.4.1 (12075)

Are they both on the same network?

Dear @naimbob,

I do not own any streaming devices, though, and I have had to use Wi-Fi on my iPhone to connect to my Celestron telescope. I am wondering if you have to connect the iPhone through settings first, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, and then connect through the app.

I hope I have been of some help.

Warm regards,

Mitch in Oz.

Unlikely Mitch.
It sounds like the streamer is and has connected to the network already.
Is the light on the front of the streamer a steady green?
I would look at restarting your iphone and connect it to the same network as the streamer.

G’day @Neilb,

As stated I have no experience with streamers. In my case the telescope does not connect through Bluetooth. I have to first disconnect the iPhone from the home wifi and connect the telescope via wifi to the iPhone. Then I can connect the Celestron app to the telescope via wifi. Not being familiar with any streamers I was wondering if naimbob would have to connect his iPhone through settings via Bluetooth, then connect through the NAIM app. My ignorance abounds.

Just hoping to be of some help. Obviously not. Sorry.

Warm regards,

Mitch.

Did you set up the new phone from an iCloud backup of the old one? If so, the app settings from the old phone should have been transferred to the new one automatically. If not, there may be some settings that need to be adjusted.
Check that Bluetooth is turned on, and that the Naim app has access to it. Even if you don’t intend to use Bluetooth, it is required for device discovery.
Also enable location for the Naim app.
Make sure that the phone is using your home network. If it loses the WiFi connection it may automatically connect to a cellphone network instead, in which case you may need to manually reconnect it to WiFi.

Hi mitch, I just said " unlikely " … not impossible.
Best wishes.

Thanks everyone for taking the effort to help.
I spent 30+ years in networking which is why this was so frustrating.

I finally have it working, here is what I did. Note I changed nothing on the networking side - as mentioned the TCP/IP side of things was all correct and working.

Deleted the app off my iphone. Rebooted the iphone. Re-installed the app. When I opened the app I selected ‘connect to existing device’ (not ‘add new device’) and it found my existing ND5 - hurrah!!!

Why it was so hard I don’t know. All working now
Thanks again

G’day Neil,

I am sorry for sounding defensive, on my third coffee from a 3 am start.

Warm regards,
