Naim Are Not Alone

So Sennheiser is up for sale, after spending a short while under the control of Sonova

Strategic sharpening through divestment of Consumer Hearing
Following a strategic portfolio review, Sonova will concentrate its investment and execution on hearing instruments and cochlear implants in the future. Accordingly, it intends to divest its Consumer Hearing business to align its portfolio with innovation priorities. Sonova will seek the best owner for the business, which competes in premium consumer audio under the Sennheiser brand and has distinct channels, consumer dynamics, and R&D cycles. The business will be treated as discontinued operations for accounting purposes as of the FY 2025/26 results.

I fear this is another iconic brand that cannot compete with the Chinese Audio onslaught. They make some of the best headphones on the market, without the silly audiophile price gouging that is creeping into the headphone market too.

At least Naim finished in good hands.

I stopped reading the word salad at that point. I hope Naim become independent again again though, lets hope

Headphone Honesty have a good rundown on the bad place this historic brand is in.
(Google Sennheiser Is Now Officially a Discontinued Operation)

As a heavy headphone user and owner of Sennheiser IEM’s and the classic HD800S, this is bad news as maybe things like replacement pads might be a problem, as it is pretty unclear if this brand has any future, as the brand name is only licenced to Sonova.

This seems to be a pretty bad moment for the higher end Audio world in general.
