Is it possible to have the clock permanently on Atom Display.
I can’t find any function in the app, for this feature.
nope!
sadly not, the screen options are fairly abysmal unfortunately
I’d be worried that having it permanently displaying the clock would have the potential to reduce the life of the screen and, potentially entail an expensive repair.

I thought it would last a lifetime and not fade as the older Unitiqute.?
There does seem to be some paranoia about screen lifespan on the back of the Naim green screen problems. The newer streamers obviously use completely different screens, from a different brand using different technology, so I can’t see any reason to worry about it.
The Naim implementation, on the other hand, is clearly lacking. For me there is no useful view, so I turn them off.
We have the album art when music’s playing. It just looks nice. People moan about the functionality too much.
There’s certainly a concern over the lifetime of OLED displays, even new ones. I don’t think Naim use OLEDs but I’m not sure whether there’s long term experience of leaving one of their newer displays permanently turned on.

Worried = paranoid??
Roger
Not really.
The older Unitiqute could show clock anytime, even no good for screen lifetime.
Maybe Naim didn’t want or could install more options on Atom ?
I’m surprised they didn’t improve this on Atom HE ?
Its rather a simple wish really, on a very expensive item.
Maybe next generation ?
Could we have one that makes tea as well?
I like complete darkness, so have turned the screen off on my Atom HE and I have a black flannel (!) to cover the illuminated volume and the power on light at the front.
The screen is too far away to see properly anyway and all the info I need is displayed on my mobile.
Its just bonkers the Atom doesn’t have this feature as an option … I have two original Logi Squeezebox touches who’s screens have been on almost permanently for nigh on 15 years (showing the time when in standby) and show not a single issue still.
Why on a modern device in 2025 can’t I have this from a “high end” company ?
If it’s that important to you, you’ll have to buy something else. It’s an amplifier, not a clock.
The point is he shouldn’t have to buy something else to have basic functionality, the screen implementation is absolutely sh1te and the fact it remains so since 2018 is inexcusable
Why is a clock on a streaming amplifier ‘basic functionality’? How many equivalents of Naim’s streamers actually have clocks? It’s simply not worth mithering about. It doesn’t include a toaster or a coffee maker either. Naim really are letting themselves down.
It’s not just the clock though, there are other ways the screen could be enhanced if they bothered and I’m fairly sure they’d be simple firmware tweeks, streamers costing a few hundred quid do a far better job
I do agree that having the track info permanently displayed would be a good thing, though most people don’t sit close enough to see it anyway.
Yes that’s the one that really gets me, I suggested it to Stevsky a while back and he said he’d put it to the team. All it needs to be is a simple latching toggle on the remote display button - on with album art, on with track info, off, all latching. Also, a lot of track info gets cut off or runs off the screen which is a bit clumsy and I’m sure could be rectified
Yes, it can’t be hard. When you press play, the info appears, then the art. It could easily work exactly as you suggest. Goodness knows why they haven’t done it. Can’t be arsed would be a poor reason.
