Naim Cable Delivery Timescales

On the 3rd of March I purchased a 4 pin Naim Din cable online to connect up a recently purchased Hicap DR from what I believe is a reputable dealer. Nearly 5 weeks later and still nothing, the dealership is blaming Naim, as this is the first time I’ve purchased a Naim cable from this dealership I was wondering if these lengthy delays are normal or am I been mislead?

Secondly on the topic of cables would I better connecting a new source to my Supernait 3 via RCA to DIN or balanced XLR to DIN. And finally would I better purchasing Naim cables or alternative manufacturers.

Think I know the answer to the later questions however your expertise would be welcome received.

Cables are being made constantly; and bundled as needed with products in the box.
They are not made to order (unless you want a special length of superlumina perhaps).
There are typically piles of snaics in the factory.
Unless of course they don’t have a kilometre of cable due to an issue with supply.

Good afternoon,

There might be challenges with supply lines at the moment but on the occasion I’ve ordered specific wires from Naim delivery has been almost immediate.

With regard to your 2nd point I’ve tried various 3rd party interconnects but have always come back to Naim’s own. There is an exception to that between my Superline and 552 but forum rules don’t permit any further discussion.

Regards,

Lindsay

I’d expect to get something basic like a Snaic4 in under a week. Note there are some on eBay for about £70.

As to the cable, it depends on what the source is. Note that you cannot connect balanced XLR to single ended din or RCA.

Ok so the Din cable is a standard 1.25m so in essence there shouldn’t be a problem.

HH - Thank you, as I didn’t realise you couldn’t use single ended DIN to balanced XLR. As for the source likely to be an SACD player.

ad nauseum, where are you? If you are UK call tom tom audio

I know there was a significant delay in delivery os Super Lumina speaker cables for some time but they need to be ordered by length obviously. Like others have said, I’d expect cables like SNAICs to be pretty much available on demand.

Well I’ve just received my refund following all your advice, thank you.

Now dilemma do I buy second hand from eBay or brand new from Tom Tom as their showing over 40 in stock.

Only you can judge what matters to you re price, condition , certainty and warranty

When buying SNAICs secondhand, be very careful and be sure they’re genuine. See the FAQ on here…

I am having the same problem and about the identical timescale with a dealer after ordering a couple of Power- Lines. They keep blaming Naim. Is there a shortage?

Possibly the same dealer?
I’ve just placed my order with Tom Tom hopefully :crossed_fingers: by the end of next week I can finally start to reap the benefits of the Hicap Dr.

Thanks Richard I had read that post previously and I could only find one out of the many available that looked truly original Naim.

Same here for a DC1. It was promised in late March, then latest 8th April, still no sign. 6 weeks for a cable!

So courtesy of Tom Tom Audio the long awaited Snaic arrived allowing me to connect up the Hicap Dr some 5 weeks after purchasing it and wow what a difference it makes to the Supernait 3. I’m not one for superfluous words, what I will say though is I’m certainly not disappointed with my purchase and it definitely won’t be going back.

My thanks goes to those of you kind enough to take the time out to reply, your advice certainly made my decisions all the much easier to make.

Still waiting for my DC1. It is now 6 weeks and Naim have missed their own deadlines twice. They did not even bother to give a new delivery date when the deadline passed 10 days ago.

Understandably neither I nor the dealer are happy.

Considering this alongside the Fw debacle, it paints a picture of an arrogant brand who do not communicate with their customers or dealers.

I have had Naim gear for 35 years, this is so disappointing.

My Power- Lines finally arrived almost 6 weeks to the day I ordered them.

I would suggest that none of us would choose to have to wait 6 weeks for something as straight forward as a cable however if we were to know in advance about the long lead times it would help manage our expectations.

In my opinion that’s classed as good customer service.
