Well after 15 years of use I managed to do it…my puck appears not to have been properly seated and disappeared into the player.
I’ve turned it off and thought before monkeying around I should obtain some guidance. How does one best retrieve a puck?

Took player out of rack and did gentle tipping and voila!
All’s well… plus did some much needed dusting…
It’s pretty easy to pop the top off of the CD5 to retrieve a puck.
You do need to be careful though with the lid. You need the correct tool and when fastening, it’s easy to go a tiny bit too far and dimple the zinc magnesium case.
