Naim Core Unknown folder

Hello

Is it possible to delete the contents of the Unknown folder in Music/MQ.

I’ve tried to do this via the app (music database rebuilt) but I can’t find the folder / albums.

Thanks

Why would you want to do that, as it’s a designed in feature of the Core’s data architecture?

Because it appears in my streamer library with “junk“ title / meta data.

If I could fix it from the App that would be fine but I can’t find the albums in the Unknown folder

Can you see your Core on the network from your PC or Mac, always assuming that you have a deck/lap top?

Yes - I can see the /Music/MQ folder and the Unknown Folder inside there

In which case you should be able to open it, double click, decide whether you want to retain the contents, and then either delete them, or move them to a new folder outside the Unknown folder, which, once empty, should be able to be deleted…….

If that doesn’t work, there may be some restrictive permissions associated with guest access from your desktop platform.

There’s a couple of lengthy Core posts about this.

From what I’ve read, a guest user can’t delete items in Music/MQ and I’m getting a restricted access error (from my mac). The guidance I’ve seen is to use the App … which doesn’t see the “Unknown” folder

Ahhh, you definitely need to read……

And have a hunt up and down that thread for more background and information.

It seems copying in is one thing. Deleting stuff in the Music folder is another

Everything in the Music/MQ folder is protected. So you need to remove that setting before messing around with anything in it.

That’s the challenge

I fixed my issue.

The stuff in the unknown folder might have a name like Album_20190322_220344_001.

But in my App had normal name / metadata - probably because I previously edited it.

So the trick is to look at cover.jpg / listen to the track - then find that album in the App and delete it.
