Naim Focal North America support

Sent my UQ2 in for a screen replacement in June. Turnaround time was a couple weeks. About $500 including shipping. Went like clockwork. Totally satisfied.

Worth it to me, because I like the Qute2 so well, especially for its amp. Atom was tempting, but I simply prefer the Qute2 form factor, remote, and features.

Thank you, Naim-Focal.

good to hear a positive experience - perhaps barco are shaking up the overseas network?

Every positive story builds more confidence they are serious about fixing the dealer/customer support issues.

Interesting as my UnitiQute is showing signs of screen decay. Do I replace it with an Eversolo or have it serviced and attach a BluSound Node to give it modern streaming capability ?
But it is good to read of positive comments

I have been assured by Naim the repaired screen will last longer than the original. This has been my experience with my repaired NDX-FM and 172.

Only you can decide if it is worth the cost versus other interesting alternatives.

I have commented before that my CD5XS connected to the UQ2 via SPDIF, and line-in from the 552DR in the main room sound even better than the very good streamer and FM on board the UQ2. The amp section is better than many realize if they do not add other sources.

@Ian2001 As long as your Unitiqute has the 192/24 streaming board aka 3D showing up in the firmware version in the app, then Naim can do a screen only repair for around £150 plus courier charges. You may need to remind your dealer of this, because in my experience not every UK Naim dealer is that knowledgeable about these low revenue support options.

Thank you - if I go this way then both the Eversolo and the BluSound will offer Presto

I found,…. as long as the router code is in your UQ / or it is wired to network, you don’t really need the screen for normal use.

I only use the DAC element these days, things from my Sat Dish and my BluRay

It really makes my day to hear of this. My only interactions with Naim NA have been two replaced Din to RCA cables that broke at the RCA. It was awesome that they replaced them each time, but it took months to receive. I’m becoming more and more of a Naim fan, and I love my Nait 50, but I’ve been nervous about service and repairs in the US. Hopefully this continues, and then I’ll feel comfortrable to lean in on Naim some more.

Support is essential if Naim want to keep and create a larger customer base.

Frankly I’m amazed former company owners allowed any kind of customer support not being 100%

I’m in EU and needed a few services.

Not interested in having my items send to UK,.. my local dealer knew nothing about logistics - apart from preparing a large bill - I’m looking elsewhere.

AV Options (US) referred me to Focal-Naim. I shipped to a US address and repairs were completed in Canada. Nothing I can complain about. My dealers were not involved this time.

Glad to have it back. MuSo Qb2 standing in was great, but not a complete substitute.

I had the same experience in the States as NickSeattle a couple of years ago. I shipped my UQ2 to an address in New York (my home state) for a screen replacement and it was subsequently sent to a repair location in Montreal. I got the unit back a couple of weeks later and it’s worked perfectly since then. The Focal Naim team communicated superbly. A good experience all around.

That’s great news. I had some positive interactions with the folks in Montreal in their early days (about 6-7 years ago) but they went MIA a couple of years later. Hopefully they’ve got their act together now, should help be needed in the future.

Hi Nick, I have Naim UnitiQute2 / NAP100 / DACV1 connecting to Harbeth p3esr for many years as a second system in my bedroom. And UQ2 worth any penny. Enjoy music.

I had both a UQ1 & UQ2 screen replacement in the EU. Think they went to Poland. Both were perfect when they came back (they also fixed some minor internal issues without me asking.) Think each one was under €250. Maybe call another dealer? If not, let us know here and we can point you in the right direction.

Edit to add: just looked at the invoice and it’s FN Deutschland on the header; doesn’t say where it went just that it was delivered back to my dealer. What country are you in?

I no longer have the items referred to.

But thanks
