Naim forum loading- laggy

Ah well. It is always the naim forum page/tab and no other. And it is always cured by closing it down.

Shall carry on until it either fixes itself or gets worse…!

I have just updated IOS software to new version 18.3.2 and it seems to have cured the issue.
Cross everything!
Edit: nope, still there but not too bad!

Ah, I was just about to ‘Like’!

I was still getting it last night, no other tabs, no other apps running.

One difference was that when reopening, Safari now wouldn’t even open onto the forum site, all other sites OK. So absolutely 100% still an issue with naim forum somehow, somewhere…

Yep, spoke too soon.

As I posted, there’s a plan to upgrade the server, so hopefully that will fix the issue, if that is the reason behind it.

Quite laggy and unresponsive for me this morning. iPhone 12 Pro IOS 18.3.2. I use Safari rather than the Discourse app.

Using the safari web site, on ipad pro 13 (m4) ios 18.1.1, i hadn’t looked at the forum in a couple of days, but with 67 assorted tabs open, I don’t have any issue, with selecting a thread and opening in a new tab.

Appreciate this may be an issue for some and appreciate the frustration.

At home I use fttc, so c. 67mbs.

Any peps posting, worthwhile os version numbers do not contain the words “latest version”.

RD has recently mentioned increased traffic, which in part, is a result of multiple new threads on identical subjects, either firmware or internet radio. Detailed posting and appropriate thread titles, allows search to function as intended, of course, but search is rarely mentioned these days!

edit - I started a response and didn’t post before travelling. Now just to add that when this was first raised, I was in the UK.
Since then over a month, I have been in eight cities in the Far East, without issue. In only one location poor internet connection, so not optimal for any productive internet activity.

Otherwise in all those locations, in different countries, airport lounges et al, I haven’t seen any hesitation when opening the forum and then open a further tab for each thread. At all times, using wifi only. Never used the discourse app!

Worth noting the housekeeping - before I leave each location, I click on the “forget network” on my iPad.

In addition every few days, I also close all apps, then power off the tablet for anything between five minutes and half a day. I tend to leave apps open, with silly numbers of tabs open in Safari, including Naim forum ones, as well as a raft of others.

I hope that may help identify where this is occurring.

Dear @sound-hound you may know, but there is a privacy setting that will generate a random HW identity that gets used for every different wifi that isn’t your own home one

One thing I’m finding with longer threads (eg what are you listening to in 2025) is that as I scroll through posts the page suddenly jumps back dozens of posts and I have to scroll through again. Never used to happen until recent weeks/months.

Same here.

I find going from a thread to the home page by tapping the naim logo top left the worst lag.

I get the above for 20sec or so.

Same here, it seems the site is a lot more clunky than it used to be.

I get this problem too. Although sometimes once it’s whizzed backwards there is a little “back” tab on the RHS of the page down the bottom that lets me get back to where I was. Annoying though happens a lot on the what I am listening to thread.

I’ve seen this exact effect for years rather than weeks or months actually. It mainly happens when there are lots of photos in the thread.

Yes, but in my experience, it’s an issue with Safari on iOS or ipadOS. Don’t see the issue on MacOS or non Apple OS and browsers.
It’s not limited to just the Naim forum, we see other web site issues with Safari… it can drive Mrs SinS mad on her iPad … and it’s all my fault as I work with IT !
Recent updates to iOS seem to have made the matter worse … possibly linked to the integration of some of the ‘AI’ tooling that has been integrated with Safari.
I do wonder if it’s a Safari resource issue.

LOL… I just logged into my Octopus Energy account portal after posting this here on my iPad… and guess what Safari slowed then froze rendering the Octopus screen. I had to clear it and start again…
