I set up my Fraim with the glass locators, I now want to remove these and the glue residue. This may be a stupid question but can anyone recommend how to remove these without potential damage to the glass? I was thinking of some sort of alcohol rub.
I used HG sticker removal…….found on Amazon.
WD-40 is great in removing glue residue.
White spirit will do it.
Or lighter fluid - which may be virtually the same as HH’s suggestion, but perhaps easier to obtain in your local corner shop.
I think he wants to remove the things he’s glued to the glass, not just the glue residue.
Sharp Stanley or Razor blade to get them off and then a drop of “Goo Off”, which I’ve yet to find a sticky substance that it doesn’t safely remove. Available from Amazon and one bottle will probably last you a lifetime.
White spirit “turps”and a flat sharp blade new
White Spirit always works for me when removing sticker residue, although IPA also works well. Nail varnish sometimes gets recommended, but I’ve not had success with it, plus you need to keep away from paintwork.
Nail varnish can be a big no no depending on the material so I’d avoid that even though glass is safe. On plastic it even melts the material or removes coloration/bleaches it.
It’s just a case of pulling them off, as they are not that strongly attached. If that really doesn’t work, a sharp kitchen knife laid flat will do it. Then it’s the white spirit. Easy peasy.
A metal scraper or putty knife, to get them off - then White Spirit.
Easy…!!
Thanks everyone, didn’t want to attack it without some advice as it isn’t a cheap unit. I will get to it this evening. I appreciate you all thanks again.
Methylated spirits is also great for getting rid of sticky residue
Citrus-based dissolvers like Goo-Gone work great, and you won’t need a razor blade or anything like that.
