A repeat of the opening post from Part 1:

_At Naim, we understand that while many people use our products to get the best listening experience from their own music collection; sometimes you simply want to put the radio on and let someone else choose. We’ve offered a comprehensive internet radio solution for some time, and we are now delighted to announce the launch of our own in-house internet radio solution._

_In a collaboration between XPeri and our team here at Naim, we have brought the internet radio server in-house to be maintained internally, as opposed to relying on a third party as with the previous server. This will improve reliability and has opened up a host of improvements to the service, detailed below:_

_- A selection of over 45,000 stations worldwide_
_- Advanced metadata feeds for artist, track and album info on many stations_
_- Focus on high-quality audio streams_
_- Improved station categorisation_
_- High-resolution station artwork_
_- Automated station scanning_
_- Station podcasts (where available)_

_The Focal & Naim app will identify any favourites and presets that should be resaved to use the new server._

_These updates are not only improving the internet radio server but improving our streaming capabilities too. TIDAL’s new 24-bit, 192 kHz streaming tier, TIDAL Max, is now available through both the Focal & Naim app and TIDAL Connect._

_In a significant update for our Chinese customers, Q-Play is now supported in Naim products. QQ Music is one of the largest music streaming services in China, and users are now able to select their Naim streamer from within the QQ Music app for a seamless listening experience._

_Regards,_
_Naim Audio – Software team_

With the launch of Naim’s new Internet Radio service (see above), I’ve created this dedicated thread where information can be posted relating to the service and members can post feedback and requests for the team at HQ.

Examples of how this thread can be used;

- Announcements on key new stations / station rebrands etc. For example recently a big change in UK for Bauer Media and Global. Scala radio rebrands to Magic Classical and about 16 other new or existing stations changing.
- request stations that we don’t have.
- issues with a station. Eg, wrong meta / won’t play and so on.
- notifications of any downtime on either our system in a given region, or a dependent system like the xperi live radio meta.
- Search issues. We have the station but its hard to find as needs more tags.
- feature requests / feedback / general radio gossip

Please ensure posts here are ONLY feedback re. the new Naim radio service or station requests. Thanks.

> Hi all, A busy month on internet radio over August: Over 800 stations updated to keep them running. Many stations changed server, especially in USA. Various stations have unfortunately ahut down. A few big ones like NPO Soul & Jazz, Netherlands and NPO Campus. Extended metadata continues to improve with superior lookup rate and accuracy, plus new dedicated server. Last week the Slovak national broadcaster went live with extended metadata. Overall we have just over 800 stations coming fro…

Folk [alley.com](http://alley.com) seems to be down probably caused by a change caused by their fall fundraising message before the stream. Airplay from the folkalley app works fine.

And here is where it gets strange.

My preset on my qb first generation works fine.

However my preset on my nd555 stops after playing the fundraising message.

Finding the station using search on the nd555 gets the same only the fundraising message is playing.

Hi @Claus

I tried it a few hours ago and it was playing fine.

Do you still have the issue?

I’m trying to get CBC Radio Canada’s ICI Musique Atmosphere to play on my Unitilite. The stream plays on the Naim app’s Radio Player, but doesn’t on the Unitilite which is up to date with its firmware. At least the last one I’m aware of.

Hi @ncoligan

I think that station won’t play on that older product as the stream standard on that station is a fairly new encoding in an hls container. On the older green screen products their decoders represent the technology standard at around 2018, and hls containers have moved on a lot in the last 5 years.

On that station, no. It’s a web only channel and they only broadcast in one format.

HI all,

A few updates on internet radio stations:

**Jazz De Ville - Netherlands**
This has come under new ownership and has been rebranded 'Jazz Radio by Maestro". The system has been updated accordingly, but the old brand name will resolve to these new stations names.

 ![image](https://d2ikyu8xyuibjx.cloudfront.net/original/4X/7/4/b/74b884b4613e49d1455e1d737bbb33946b125e96.png)

**TMM 1/2 (The Music Machine) / ex. NME radio**
They’re closing down at the end of the month unfortunately so we’ll be suitably removing them from the system. Full details are on their website:

> **[The Music Machine](https://www.themusicmachine.co.uk/)**

With regards

Steve

Hi @Claus

Looked into more detail on this Folk Alley and they’ve got corruption in their atream as ut transitions from their fund raising message to the main stream. That corruption can cause the stream to stop playing,

For now I’ve switched the stream to their AAC stream which is lower quality, but works reliably.

Will write them an email letting them know the error of their ways.

By the way, our metadata engine has been training hard and is now doing pretty good on resolving most things they play to artist/album/track and artwork. Looks pretty tidy…

Best wishes

Steve

Hello, for some reason starting today, the main Groove Salad station from Soma FM has stopped working through a ND5XS2. Previously has been working for many years. The other stations from Soma FM are working correctly as are the alternative Groove Salad2 and Classic stations. The main Groove Salad station will not play flac, MP3 or AAC. Something has gone awry somewhere. Would it be possible to have a look, please? Brgds.

Hi @Magnolia

Our system caught it earlier that Soma Groove Salad have an issue. I’ve written to them to let them know they have system issues. Nothing we can do Naim side, they have server issues.

Hi @davidf

All their streams seem to be down at their moment, plus their website is broken / looks a bit of a mess:

> **[Swissradio.ch - Swiss Internet Radio](https://www.swissradio.ch/menu/jazz/jazzswingde.htm)**

> swissradio.ch Jazz/Swing - fühlen Sie sich zurückversetzt in die 1910er bis 1940er Jahren

We’ll keep an eye on things but currently outside of our control.

These 3 stations used to have the meta data displayed at some point. They are all in Hi Def format. Would it be possible to restore this if still available.

1. Bluewave Radio
2. PureClassix
3. Radio Club 80 - Classic Rock

Thank You
