Naim iOS App connection issues

I have read other closed threads with similar subjects, but for me this problem seems to have worsened with iOS 26 (like everything else in iOS 26).

The Naim app is extremely slow to re-connect to my system. If I am in my office and the phone (or MS Teams) starts ringing, I reach for my phone to mute the radio, switch it on (wake it up), go to the Naim App and it has a ‘moment’, most of the time it goes blank with no music listed and no controls to stop the music, all the while the music is still playing. The quickest way for me to mute the music is either to quit and restart the App, or get up and run across the room!

I am not running a VPN and the phone is on wi-fi.

Is this the place to report this problem? That’s all I want to do is highlight it to the devs that the App really needs better, more robust and faster connection when the iOS device is woken up.

I think you may be the only user seeing these issues, as there are no other similar current reports. I suggest you contact Naim technical support and they can probably help you to solve your problem.

I’m finding the Naim app very slow (minutes) to connect to music on my Core. 333/streaming far quicker.

I’ve just had an instance of it not playing from Tidal. Phone reboot solved.

Just my perspective….

I use the Naim app v8.1 with IOS 26.5 on my iPhone 12 Pro and also iPad Mini5 to control either ND5xs2, Core or a Mu-so 2.

Whilst music is streaming in either of the above, my Naim app always responds immediately to being able to STOP the music stream. When the device screen locks, I can unlock and stop music within less than 3secs.

My Naim app devices always have very strong wifi access point signals. I have three wifi access points (Netgear RS600 and RAXE500) in my home and in my audio rooms, the iPhone is never more than 3-4m from an access point.

So for my Naim app and IOS 26 scenarios- all are working with immediate responsiveness.

No, this is primarily a discussion forum, not a support service. Your first point of contact for support should be your retailer, but you can also contact Naim support by phone or email.

Not an official support service, but I’d like to think we end users can help out others sometimes. I have certainly been directed towards solutions by forum members.

At a minimum, it’s a way to determine if the problem is a shared one or unique to me. If shared, that’s information worth conveying to the official support line. In my case, I don’t think I’ve ever opened a ticket before describing the problem here and seeing the response (if any).

I found that my iPad app and Android app were sometimes slow to find the 333 and Star; this happened more often a few weeks ago, just after the apps had been updated. Now the problem seems to have lessened but now and again I do discover the Ipad has lost the 333 and I have to start the connecting to a new product process, skipping most stages, then the 333 is back on the app.

I’ve had some issues I’ve been working through. I wasn’t sure of the cause but I do have some connection and delay problems similar to what you describe.

Sometimes when switching from I-Radio to Tidal the app on my Ipad Pro refuses to play the album. Going back to I-Radio is no problem, seems like the app hangs on the first selection you make.

I loaded a Naim app update this morning and one of the changes fixes an issue that could cause Tidal tracks not to play. The new iPad app version is 8.1.1 (15108).

That’s an issue I have too. That and hopping between playlists when in shuffle mode. I also was getting the BBC Radio 2 logo showing up instead of KCRW on one of my pre-sets.

I wasn’t sure what was going on but I’ll update the app on my iPad.

I too have found that my phone takes its time to find my endpoints. I thought it was an ageing WiFi setup, but it could be IOS 26.
