Naim Muso update

Every time there is an update about the Muso, then some surprise appears! : 2 days ago, after the update, a bunch of covers disappeared (they are in the external memory that I keep inserted in the USB port of the Muso)

I have a Muso qb and a Uniti Atom which I have had for a few years. The Atom works fine but the Muso is completely unreliable. Every time I use the Naim App it has disappeared again, the App can’t find the Muso and just keeps spooling. I don’t
Maybe Naim should get some Spotify engineers in to sort it out.
PS please don’t answer with suggestions about checking my bit rates or notes or how many gigabites my wifi runs at. I am not a network engineer, it should just plug in and go
If you’re thinking of getting one I do not recommend it

The problem is your network, even though you don’t want to hear about it. The first generation muso and Qb both had really poor WiFi implementations and the reason the app can’t see them consistently is because the muso is dropping off your WiFi.

The simplest way to get a surefire fix is to use an Ethernet cable to connect your muso to your router. These cables are cheap to buy on eBay or from Amazon so you could buy one and just lay it across the floor to check if it helps and if it does then you can think about how to make it domestically acceptable.

One further option, although DavidH is spot on. If you are experiencing wifi issues, which it is not always plug and go. This is likely because ISP kit is made to a price and a compromised spec. It is not measured by way of “everything else works”, it is the communications that need to occur.
BT HH is much improved these days, but when Muso and Qb gen 1 were released, Naim support recommended a WAP hard wired back to the router.
This isn’t a mesh arrangement, but a WAP from the likes of Ubiquiti, positioned to provide the best coverage.
One should suffice and having installed here a decade ago, there are never any issues, despite the difficulty of the building inhibiting wide distribution of digital signals.

maybe I expressed myself badly. After the last update, if I insert a USB drive (or a SDD) with music tracks into the MUSO’s USB input, I no longer see in my smartphone (or tablet, or PC) the image that distinguishes the track

Thanks
Not an option
The router is upstairs and I’m not going to lay a cable on the staircase
Maybe I could plug in to a Wi-Fi booster like a to link?

Well, experiences differ. We’ve had a QB1 for years in our bedroom. It’s been completely reliable and (whisper it quietly) it’s on WiFi and not close to the router. My wife loves it and I would certainly recommend it, at least if it could still be purchased.

I had the same issues with my Muso’s. I have two Gen 1 QB’s & 1 Muso Gen 1. Installed a Draytek router and some Unifi discs and problems of Muso’s disappeared. They appear instantly on the app and respond to volume changes instantly. All connected via Wi-Fi with no issues at all.

Thanks, we love the QB too but it only runs for a few hours before dropping out again and then you have to go through the rigmarole with the App
Update, helpful comments on here said it was probably the Wi-Fi so I found a spare TP link which I could plug in nearby and connected it with an Ethernet cable
It’s working fine and seems stable so hopefully problem is solved
Nil point to Naim for such a flaky product but ten out of ten for sound quality

I’ve have had a Qb 1 for 6 years, always loved it with Tidal but very recently with FLAC>WAVs from my NAS, absolutely superb. Pity about the App mind.
